If there's anyone here from SWG, they probably brought this up already, but...

What do you guys think about expanding each planet, one at a time, to include vast free-roam areas with an ability to buy and place structures such as town hall, personal rooms, walls, storage structures, cantinas, shuttle ports, mail boxes, taxable vendors, resource-gathering factories, etc. Could be a combat option as well--turrets, gates, hired guards/AT walkers (champion class being most expensive). Adding destructible vehicles/mounts with a combat option would be cool too.

Each structure would need "rent" in credits for an unlimited amount of time--rent runs out - structure disappears (prevents ghost towns).

Some kind of "war/peace" checkbox would prevent people's towns from getting rolled over and destroyed unless they want to pvp...

Areas like this would add a "free world" concept and eliminate the "follow the only road" pattern of every planet where enemies are everywhere and just stand around waiting to be killed.

With flagships and player housing it doesn't seem like too much of a stretch... we're about to all start buying in-game furniture, remember? Why not take it a few steps further, there's almost no end-game content after all. Sad to see SWTOR not do as well as it could--it really is an awesome game in contrast to knights and dragons of almost every other MMO.

Again will never happen

At most (and they been resistant to that even) you will see DAoC RVR style PVP added where you will have a PVP Planet with pre existing outposts and bases that each side claims.

As for houseing, not sure what that has to do with SWG

Housing was around long before SWG and actually the first housing mechanic in a MMO was in a Themepark styled MMO (The Realms) and then followed up in Ultima Online.

The housing system they seem to be using here is DAoC/EQ2 style housing with instanced area and hooks usage for decoration (along with some limited crafting mechanics for decorations).

So not sure how you take this housing in SW:TOR and make leap to completely different in every possible way design of SWG.

As for all it can be,

Game has new devs now who seem open to the most requested stuff like more planets, gambleing, EQ2 housing, DAoC RVR. So now just have to give them time to do it. The old dev team was very very very static and refused to listen to the player base.

But if your hoping for SWG content, I really think your going to be disappointed every single time out. The concepts SWG used have been done elsewhere to better reviews (housing, PVP, crafting, graphics, ect) and those other designs fit the SW:TOR design better then any of the SWG designs

This is not now and never will be a sandbox game.
