What is wrong with saying "EAWare?" Have you been living under a rock because EA DID buy out Bioware several years ago.

Using that Logic we should be calling DICE "EA Sweden"....... if anything they are EA Austin. Calling then EAWare or BioFail is moderately pejorative..... but please go ahead and use it anyway as you clearly dont seem to give a crap either way.

EA Austin equals just as much as saying EAware. BioWare is usually just mentioned without "Austin" due to the fact that it's usually redundant. It's IMPLIED.

It's clearly hyperbolic by calling me out for basically saying "EAware" and meaning "BioFail," but please interpret my own posts for me and tell everyone what I really mean.

I'm sure you say things like "T2games" when referring to GTA as well right?

Because Rockstar games is owned by Take-Two Interactive, so then you just cut out that middleman and say "Take-Two made GTA", am I right?

Or that Fable was made by Microsoft, right?

But, judging by your name, your join date and your post history, I think I'll just ignore you from now on.

This kind of thread tells me something: BioWare could make real hard cash with a good Pazaak addon in SWTOR.

Like buy specific cards on the market. Some would have specific point or impact on the game other would be only specific skins or skins with shiny effects.

I know people would spend hours playing this even more if there's both a single player and a multiplayer mode.

18,000,000+ here... still no rancor... IRL... 1000's of $'s worth of cartel coins... REALLY?! Sorry but I think it's pretty obscene to have to use that many credits, and that much time for an achievement some are getting for WAY WAY WAY less!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's a nice thank you SWTOR... I appreciate it about as much as you apparently appreciate the 1000's of $'s I've spent on your game....

This, if real, is hilarious.

You might not be aware that the RNG for the slot machines is in no way tied to the revenue your account represents.

Just like old ladies can sit at slot machines for years on end, wasting the last bit of their lives away watching wheels spin and listening to bells chime, and never come out ahead, so it is with these slots.

The only way to win... is not to play.

I'm a bit confused by your claim.

Did you use Cartel Coins to get Cartel Certificates and purchase Kingpin Chips?

Did you use Cartel Coins to buy packs, resell them for credits and buy Kingpin Chips?

Did you use Cartel Coins to buy packs, resell them for credits and buy Smuggler's Chips?

How on Earth did you end up spending thousands of real-world dollars on this casino event?

That's not what he said. He said he was bitter because even though he spends a lot of $ on SWTOR in real life, he didn't get a rancor even when spending 18 million on chips. That's only 360 kingpin chips if he bought them outright, though. :D

Ah, that makes sense.

Yeah, buying Kingpin chips seems like a terrible idea. I read that you can get 8-10 times as many Kingpin chips (for the same amount of credits) if you buy the Smuggler ones and use those to get the Kingpins. If true, it seems like the only way to go.

360 Kingpin Chips directly vs 3000 through Smuggler Chip gambling.

And all of this is why I will never even get the opening quest to go to the Casino, and those achievements don't exist to me. Gambling was, is, and always will be a racket for parting suckers from their money.

Bravo, BW, for creating such a spectacular credit sink. People have WILLINGLY dumped many millions of credits into this, thus working to counter inflation a bit. I don't know why, but they have, and you knew they would. Well played.

Oh I don't know... I spent around 800-900k credits and I got 5 great looking blaster pistols, 2 great looking rifles, 2 decent looking sniper rifles, 2 cool looking assault cannons, 1 cool speeder, 1 awesome rancor mount and 1 pretty silly outfit.

All the weapons were completely new (and so far unique) models and not reskins.

If I was to buy that off the GTN when a new pack was released, I'd have to spend well over 900.000 credits.

I consider this a pretty good deal.

Sure, I wasted some time, but that's ok, I waste time doing dailies too.

It was NOT inflation they were seeking to counter. It was to drain credits from players prior to launching the new housing ****. Why? So they could charge enormous amounts of cartel coins for it since the "want it now!" crowd has blown all their in-game credits on the **** chance of getting a rancor.

Dropped annother 500k on the casino tonight (having previously spent 1m) and finally got my Rancor and Magnus Vectron. I spent 1.5m in total - so a good deal imo given how much cartel Rancors go for :)

Just need the slot machine to blow up and now and I've cleared all of the achievements but thats a job for after double xp week!

Ummm... that's pretty much the practical result of countering inflation by decreasing the money supply. In order to allow them to set prices on Strongholds and the associated bits and bobs at prices reasonably attainable for aspiring space-poors, who are operating at the pre-endgame or early endgame income levels, they had to decrease the available assets if the wealthier players and therefore increase the value they place on the credits they have remaining.

It's like taking a teenager who is used to getting a very large allowance each month and cutting them back to a pittance. Aside from a lot of whining, you would also observe drastic changes in their spending habits.

This.

I don't even know my full tally but I can recap 3 magnus, 1 rancor, 4 blaster pistols, 2 sniper rifles, a lightsaber, an autocannon, 4-5 legacy bound armor pieces, the "unlucky" title, and I'm sitting on gold certs for the last buyable mount for the last achivement of the event. Total spent is ~900k and I only did it 50-100k at a time after doing dailies so that I had a net gain of credits everyday despite gambling.

If someone is absolutely set on just getting the rancor then they will probably end up disappointed, but if you just play around and use what you do get out of it then it's not so bad.

I guess this is where I really don't get it: what on earth are you going to do with 5 blaster pistols? Or the rest of it? Or more than one mount? I mean, how many of those things can you actually use, and in what way are they better than what you had before? Or are they desirable because they're new and different.

I just don't get it. What do people do with all this stuff?

Well... 2 of them I use on my Merc, the other 3 are spread out amongst companions on my 13 characters. I've got the sniper rifle on my Imperial agent, and one of my companions has the other one. Same with the blaster rifle and assault cannons.

The mounts are on two different characters.

People do the same thing with this stuff as they do with other stuff... they use it.

Is it really that hard to grasp what people do with weaponry and armour? Do you not buy stuff in real life? Can you honestly say that you only buy the stuff you genuinely need in real life?

Because SW:TOR isn't something you genuinely need to survive, you know.

It amazes me that people are confused about why others buy stuff in a game... Why wouldn't people want to have a cool looking pistol on their character or a cool looking outfit? Should we all dress in potatosacks and use the same blaster?

People want individuality.

I guess it's incomprehensible to me that you could have that many characters that you actually play rather than sitting forever in fleet, untouched...and even more amazing that you haven't already found and nailed down a look for them already. Honestly, I couldn't even begin to find a use for any of those items unless I had a character built from the ground up to have a style and personality that matches the theme and flavor of the equipment in question... ie I would never equip a tommy gun on my vanguard nor on my operative because it would be thematically counter to everything else I have selected for them. And the Han Solo blaster I could really only use on a Smuggler/Gunslinger.... just wouldn't work for a Mercenary. I suppose you could put them on various companions just for kicks.... I don't know, just doesn't seem worth the effort or expense unless you have a specific reason for wanting them. The Han Solo blaster I would definitely want for a Smuggler, and when I get around to making one I'll wish I had one of those. The blaster cannon stretches my suspension of disbelief pretty far...

And yes, in real life I try to limit my expenditures to thinks that can be lumped in the "necessary" category. SWTOR is one of my splurges. I drive a car sold in 2002 that gets 50mpg and has 90 horsepower... and I enjoy that just as much as any 150 horsepower motorcycle I've ever test-ridden. I guess to me there is a certain amount of freedom in having less stuff - every thing has a place and a purpose, and anything that lacks those simply isn't kept around. My parents had loads of stuff that just dragged them down... and only now that they're letting go and getting rid of it is the weight coming off of their shoulders. I suppose my life philosophy extends to the game, because my main, a Vanguard, had color-coordinated armor for herself plus Jorgan and Dorne before there was color matching.... and she's still wearing that same armor, albeit with better mods. I can't imagine putting her in anything else no matter what they put on the Cartel Market. I think I'd have to make a whole new trooper if I were going to use the newer looks, and incorporate that into my concept of that character before I started it.

I finally won a rancor day before yesterday, and, truth be told, I was a little disappointed - it bumps, it's huge, it's fat, you only see it from behind, and its behind is not as cute as a tauntaun's behind, etc. Now I'm going to whine that I need to win that Magnus for the achievement. :) (The new Magnus from the Vertica pack looks really cool, btw).

Anyway, I agree that the weapons and outfits are really great. The non-helmeted outfit, for one, was one of the best legacy sets I've ever seen, and it doesn't make my body type 2 heroines look fat. I think I'm getting one set augmented with willpower gear for level 55, and I'm leaving another set for my main until level 60 hits. I also bought all the weapons(especially loved the assault cannon), and my only disappointment is about the blasters - they look cool, but they have light rays, and I didn't want a pair of blasters with light rays(like balmorran pistols, I have those already). Nevertheless, they look cool.
