cmalehorn
There needs to be something done about the issue surround DPS assassin builds for PVE ASAP. My character is a dps assassin (deception) build. I have maxed out the gear (180) with a focus on willpower and basically am maxed out in terms of primary stat and therefore damage. When compared to other classes, my total primary stat value is sometimes 300 pts lower than other classes and as a result my damage is lower. In addition, the lack of sustained damage abilities is limiting as well. The reason this is an issue is that since I'm maxed out on my primary stat (willpower) the only way to increase is to complete NIM operations (ie 186 gear). However, as I experienced a few times already there is a bias towards DPS assassins. Therefore, there is not a level playing field and getting ultimate comms doesn't progress my character. Please address this ASAP as it is not a new problem. Some suggestions..... 1) increase the damage on some abilities; 2) cut down cooldown time significantly of some abilities; 3) give warriors and assassins similar abilities (meaning melee warriors and assassins both fight with light sabers so the should be able to have/do similar abilities/moves) ie maybe have a few abilities that cross classes (ie hybrid abilities) and 4) increase armor to medium so they can with stand more damage....In any event, something has to be done ASAP because of this developing bias. I fully support SWTOR as I am a long time fan and I would remind the creators that Darth Maul (what assassin class was based on I assume) could easily handle two experienced jedi masters at once, if not more (in books and movie etc)....an was extremely deadly to everyone......This fact needs to be reflected in the assassin DPS deception build.....thanks for your time and I would like to hear your feedback. You can't throw out words like buff certain abilities or decrease the cool down on other abilities without being specific. More importantly, class balance is very important, so any changes would have be done carefully. Also comparing Darth Maul to a game character and build is a bit silly as the devs are not required to follow the lore regarding class mathematics. Starglitter
Mmm... I believe the game does need a class and specialization re-level with a bit of common sense added to it. For instance take a sniper, medium armor, very high range (35), protective shielding, self heal, and the highest DPS of them all. Contrast it with the Sith Assassin, light armor, no self heal, no shielding, melee (7 ) ranged only and noticeably inferior DPS. It would seem fair that the class with the greatest risk would have the highest DPS, this game has it totally backwards... Sue
dacentabaal
OP you weren't playing assassin before 2.0 hit as a guess? They greatly bolstered Assassins damage and ability output to make them fair game in PvE again, heck in my PvP gear when doing ops like DF etc I can still pull agro if I do my rotations right, the only thing I cold ask BW for now is possible another agro drop, although again if you do the rotations right your agro drop is also a stealth increase boost for your force gain once you pop out to hit again

It's well known that Shadows and Assassins have lagged behind in viability for end game content, in comparison to most other damage dealing classes, for awhile now. This is why they are buffing Madness/Balance spec and are considering avenues for buffing Deception/Infiltration.

Its also 'well known' that they got a buff and are viable now more than ever in end game content, if someone is playing Deception in an ops and can't keep up they are either not utilising the rotations or its a simple L2P issue, yes some use the Madness tree for end game but most I know play Deception, myself included
Phyltr
All MMO's that have specs like SWTOR generally have trees that are more viable for PVE and some that are more viable for PVP. It seems with what the devs are doing, and what they've said about deception, it seems clear they want madness to be the PVE spec now and deception to be the PVP spec. They like the burst in deception and are changing madness to produce better sustained DPS.

Deception/Infiltration was buffed for PvP and has not been buffed for PvE in a long time. I suggest you go look at all the top parses and see where Deception/Infiltration shadows rank, because you're a bit misinformed.

Also comparing Darth Maul to a game character and build is a bit silly as the devs are not required to follow the lore regarding class mathematics. You are making my argument for me......Balance is important....that's why I'm suggesting they provide more for the DPS assassin/deception assassin build. As far as specifics, the developers have the best view of the math behind the game so I leave it up to them to allocate. Not sure if you know anything about Star wars then...FYI....this is a game based on Star wars. Since the DPS assassin seems to be based on Darth Maul, in my view, it should reflect more rather than less. A DPS assassin should not be behind the pack in terms of ability it should be in front of the pack.
JamieKirby
The issue with class balancing is severe, all combat in this game is aoe focused, except for most class quest bosses, where its 1v1 or at most 2v1, but most classes have very poor aoe capabilities, the jedi knight / sith warrior has only focus/rage spec, beyond that, their aoe sucks big time, while others have good aoe capabilities. I think all the aoe abilities should do high damage, but have abit of a longer cooldown to compensate, so spamming an aoe ability isn't possible, say smash for example, it has a 12-15 second cooldown, but unless you spec in rage, its damage is....pitiful and its only useful to stun the weak and normals long enough to wipe them out, cause weaks and normals can do surprising amount of damage to you within 5 seconds. My experiences is based on being a dps spec character, using a dps companion.
