What sells best with artifice

I chose Artifice, archeology and investigation as my crew skill and i am trying to make some credits. So does anyone have any idea what sells best for these skills? I am new to this basically with the whole Gastric Trade Network and this is my first character in general too.

For mine, I used to have a list of about 20 or so blue level crystals. I'd check them every day against the gtn, see which ones weren't being sold by someone else, craft those and list them.

To be honest, I wasn't making a whole lot of credits off of them. I was doing it more to help out other players.

Really depends on the server to be honest. There is a niche for every single craft though and it is not really that hard to find. Best way to go about it, but can take some time, make 1 of every single green, RE them, make every single blue, RE them, make every single purple, price them, see what sells, see what does not. Find the ones that sell, and have no competition = max profits (this can also work well on some blue items, not so much on green ones I found).

Gastric Trade Network, heheh.

Artifice makes crystals, hilts, and enhancements. Crystals usually don't sell because the cartel market provides +41 stat crystals that are much better than what Artifice can make. Hilts and enhancements can sell, especially if you make the blue or purple quality ones, but trying to train up Artifice will cost you something like 4 million credits to get it to max and with all the recipes. So you'll be poor. On the other hand if you collect the Archeology mats and just sell those, you can get rich (no costs).

My recommendation would be to just take the collection skills (Archeology, Bioanalysis, Scavenging) and as you level up with your first character, collect mats and sell them on the GTN for profits. You can end up with several million credits by level 30. Take the crafting skills like Artifice once your toon is max level, so that you can get the money required to raise the skill from the max level daily quests.

Otherwise, as it's been said above, if you have Artifice, match it with the correct support skills: Archeology and Treasure Hunting.

I do okay with dyes ATM. - The ones that need max rep with certain factions are the best sellers. Black&red / red&black / orange&white/ black&blue Grey&red etc.

But there are a LOT of rival players and it's very cut-throat. You have to log in several times a day, and be prepared to have someone scalp you a minute after you log off. It can be a game of attrition, especially at weekends / events / double XP days. - So it helps if you have a war-chest and several millions of credits to spend on mats at a time. - If you run out of stuff to sell, someone else is getting the benefit. -

Get max affection on your companions and legacy of crafting maxed too. every time you log in you gotta check prices of about 8-10 items, just in case someone has posted them at the basic cost. You gotta camp at a GTN terminal to be effective. You also usually need to log in very early - 5 a.m. ish and through the day until 1 a.m. or so. - its a punishing schedule.

- And know when to stock up on mats and when to sell. - Expect all your comapanions to be crafting all day every day. - Several other (alt) characters with high-affection companions will still not be able to gather enough mats to keep up with a very high demand day. - but if you can do all that.....and stay sane, you can make a couple of million on a weekend. - though sometimes you'll be undercut to ribbons and make barely 25K.

Until then, gather the mats, craft for yourself and your guild, and build up the stock and support and rep..... Then you'll hit the <medium> time.

Good luck.

From my guide: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=726927

4. how many and what are the desirable items from a given crew skill?

  • Artifice ... Lightsaber hilts are popular, but the best available are difficult to get the schematics for and most characters only need one. Enhancements are "bursty": they'll be a mad rush one day, and then you won't sell any for a week. Certain dye modules sell regularly, but even they are prone to market crashing. Relics are great if you can get the schematics (only available by RE of existing relics that are acquired by raiding; comms purchasable relics are not REable for schematics. See http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=715016 for details on that)

And all that depends on your server.

I both agree and disagree with the sentiment that crafted items sell for less than the materials to craft them. If one is looking at the very tippy top of the possible crafted items then this is true: the "exotic" materials (needed to craft grade 30 and above item modifications) are worth more on the GTN than the crafted items. BUT if one comes down off the peak to grades 28 and lower (i.e. "leveling" equipment), then the crafted items are valued higher.
