Combat in SWTOR

Hi guys

I was wondering what you thought of the combat mechaics in the game.

Do you find it fun to kill mobs, or are they just obstacles between you and your objective? Do you ever go out and fight things just for the hell of it, or do you require extra incentive (i.e. rewards)? Are there any ways you can see to improve the flow of fights?

Just give your answer on a 0-10 scale and elaborate if you feel the need to.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

During the leveling experience, I usually have a solo roleplayer type attitude. The mobs add to my experience. 8/10

After max level, I'm usually just trying to get somewhere. 6/10 most planets(because most mobs can be avoided), 3/10 on planets like Oricon or Makeb.

I like fights that require strategy and thought, and sadly for the majority of content, I find most to be of the hack and slash variety (just whack at the mobs and kill them before they kill you).

Operations and FPs are typically where I find enjoyable fights, though solo boss fights and trying to do things like Heroics at level can be challenging and thus fun as well.

Overall though, I avoid combat as much as possible as I find most of it to be tedious and nothing more than a slight speed bump on the way to my objective.

It is why I get frustrated when grouped with people who feel the need to fight every mob in sight, and why I tend not to group for anything outside FPs and Operations.

BTW, I have been known to roll defensive cool downs while using movement impairing immunity moves to run through tunnels and caves full of trash mobs until I get them to leash and reset.

I see people who even on places like Oricon stop and fight every pack of mobs while I do things like speeder over them all until I get where I'm going, and I just shake my head.

I've been back playing for a bit over a week -- level 36 and just passed the 1000-kill achievement on both Treek and Khem Val. My income derives from Biochem and I find grinding mobs very relaxing while I listen to music. I also have an advanced neuro-muscular disease and rely extensively on mouse-based macros (which I tweak constantly). I'm probably the ultimate carebear (no apologies) because I try to stay four levels above quests. I was 35 when I did the Zash-kill quest, was prepared to do interrupts, but Khem and I killed her so quickly it was unnecessary to do so. My approach would probably bore most others to death; for me it's what makes the game even playable.

With respect to the foregoing and my somewhat unique circumstances, I find TOR's combat 10/10.

I do sometimes yes. Depends on how drunk I am but I was doing it just last night on my BH.

Just killing mobs in masterful ways can be quite fun.

That's me. Just keep going.
