About that there casino of yours for 2.8 . . .

This is purely a personal opinion, but it's a rather strongly held one.

A STAR WARS casino that lacks Pazaak and Sabacc is clearly a casino that has been taken over by the MEGA ULTRA FAILCASTROPHE syndicate.

Getting the classic SW games of chance implemented is basically just coding blackjack either without face cards, or with a SW themed Tarot major arcana. You'd hope Bioware still has the Pazaak rules hanging around somewhere, and I'm pretty sure there are Sabacc rules floating around out there somewhere too.

I suppose slots is what happens when some Hutt puts the casino construction and management out to the lowest bidder and then is consistently late with payments on top of that.

Call me back when there's a seedy cantina that has real SW gambling. Or failing that, a working Djarik board would also be o.k.

Slots aren't very interesting though, unless there's some way to beat up security and steal the machines.

Let's get a Bith band playing Claire de Lune and start up an 11 person casino heist op. ;)

Slots are probably easier to implement, and still a good test of mini-game popularity. Kind of like how Cathar were a relatively easy to do test race for them to test how popular that might be.

If the Casino does well I'd expect to see other mini-games occur int he future.

AND..... SWTOR attracts a wide range of players... from old pros to rookies who are into SW IP. And with that player base..... slots are ubiquitous for a casino chance game... so everyone should know how to use them without needing a tutorial.. and that means fewer frivolous CS tickets opened claiming that they lost their credits because they did not understand the rules.

If players want Pazaak.... then you better embrace slots... to let them ring out the new style of content AND add more.

There was an old adventure module for the Star Wars RPG from West End Games that had Sabaac cards and rules.

I think though that the problem with it and Pazzak is that they are games of skill, not chance. Skilled players could easily disrupt the economy. While Slots is literally fixed at certain odds. With X amount of spins, Y will always happen.

For a single player game, it didn't really matter. But for a MMORPG, it does matter.

Depends on whether they're for credits or tokens(like this slots event is).

Moreover, Pazaak's original design only works for PvE(always having a house), and Sabacc's original design is PvP oriented(without a house).

Because that's what Bioware has done in the past?

Oh wait Cathar was "very successfull" and we still don't have a new species. They will continue to do easiest/cheapest things possible just like have been doing since F2P launched.

pressing a button isn't exciting. A card game is.

This is so true.

I don't understand the crowds of people (some of whom I'm related to!) who stand around pushing that button for hours on end and usually wind up paying for the privilege!

Ever seen a slots tournament? Funniest thing.

Anyhow, I'm down for a game of Pazaak, but don't ask me to play slots when what I want is cards.

once again bioware doesn't do what the player base tells them to do. we demand a card game we get clicking on something.

this is why players are leaving this game in droves for wildstar the devs there care what the players want and go about working on putting it in. here the only thing bioware does is puts whatever could make them money in the cartel market.

yawn, troll, troll, troll, very few people are leaving SWTOR for Wildstar, and of those that do some will return and some will move on to the next MMO, and 10% will stay in Wildstar. People will very soon realise Wildstars levelling and story is dull, and want to move on to the "next big thing", when it launches properly it will be hacked, botted, bugged (its that already), the forums will be full of people complaining about the game. That's the MMO community for you. Wildstar will be no different.

Then we will hear about how Star Citizen, Elite, or any number of other MMOs that will be the perfect MMO, and imagine you will still be here paying your sub to troll the boards.

I don't want to be picky but, playing a card game on a computer is indeed pressing a button.

Also, I'm pretty sure the people that spend all day infront of those casino machines would disagree about your theory on buttonpressing not being exciting.

Yawn.

Doubt it.

but there's a difference between pressing a button, that one of those nodding birds can do... and choosing which button to press when.

one involves no thinking, while the other actualy engages the mind somewhat. which is what makes it more fun.

Pretty sure the same got claimed when SWTOR came out. Every new MMO on the market has devs that 'care more about the players' than all the current MMOs combined, it's kinda magical that way.

I'd advise you to wait for a few months after Wildstars release to see how realistic that claim actually is. ;)

I would believe this if the slots were added permanently. However, they only come as part of an event. A rather long running event, sure, but still an event.
