Got the kingpin rancor ta da after 20 kingpins coincs

Recommended Posts

There are no significant rewards save for the rancor. I mean - everything else are reskins except for a little pet and a toy. You can get much more attractive and cheaper stuff from cartel market and gtn.

I spent over 10 million on the kingpin chips so far and didn't get it.

I smell a foul play here. This is a pointless and massive credit sink just before Strongholds... It's also time limited to make the players rush into spending their creds because they will not got a chance for a rancor in the future.

Tell you what - if you just want to explore the "event" then go ahead. But if you want a rancor and you're not one of those rich players then you are much better off saving for the Dathomiri rancor. The difference is only in colour and harness.

I'd tell you what the chance to win a rancor is but I will get another warn for posting datamined information, haha.

Random chance is random. Someone will get it on their first try. Others won't get it after 100's. That's why gambling in a rigged game is dumb.

Yuuuuuuuuuuuuup!

Spend those credits, baby! Spend them fast! Make sure you have to use Cartel Coins to get the housing!

Soon... very soon... we'll have another Cartel Market sale to help you spend those Cartel Coins, too.

THEN you'll have to use Real Money to buy Cartel Coins to buy your housing!

My plan is to sit back, hold onto my very large stack of credits, and watch the fun unfold. :)

PS: Alec, Out of curiosity would you PM me the chance? Or at least tell me if I'd win a bet on "under 0.1%"?

I don't even need to say the real odds. I spent 10 million on kingpin chips and never got the rancor. Make your estimates. One Kingpin chip = 50k. You get roughly 1 Kingpin Chip per 15 Smuggler games, though. IF you're willing to spend hours... Edited by Alec_Fortescue

Someone found the chances in the client code and posted on Reddit that without the "Feeling Lucky" buff, you have a 0.07% chance of winning the Rancor. There is a 0.09% chance if you have have the "Feeling Lucky" buff, which reduces your chance of getting nothing.

However, 50% of the time (without buff), you get to go again for free.

Same guy posted that it is a 10% chance to get the Kingpin Chip.

EDIT: This could all change before release from PTS though: it is real easy to chances of winning certain items.

^ *Ding ding* prepare for mod message. :) I just got a warn when I posted Tulak Hords armor literally 3 days ago. I think they will want to keep the real odds secret, so I'd rather delete it.

This is their tactic to deprave you of credits just before strongholds. :)

Someone found the chances in the client code and posted on Reddit that without the "Feeling Lucky" buff, you have a [redacted] chance of winning the Rancor. There is a [redacted]% chance if you have have the "Feeling Lucky" buff, which reduces your chance of getting nothing.

So do that math based on the odds that you didn't post... so hiding my math...

Your expectation of cost to acquire the Rancor, with the Feeling Lucky buff, is on average 25,000,000 credits.

Have fun with that! Me, I'm not putting my coins into the slot machine.

So do that math. Let's round that 0.09% up to 0.1%, one in one-thousand.

Then let's say that 50% retry is accurate.

Your expectation of cost to acquire the Rancor, with the Feeling Lucky buff, is on average 500 * 50,000 = 25,000,000 credits.

Have fun with that! Me, I'm not putting my coins into the slot machine.

Calculate the cost when you are winning kingpin tokens through smuggler's luck machines, pls?

I really like the new weapons like the assault cannon and blaster rifle, the pistol is cool too. Definitely more than a few items that aren't re-skins here. Anyone walking into this event rubbing their hands together thinking they're going to get a rancor is a fool who will soon be parted from their credits, there will be a few lucky people though which is what casino play is all about. Saying the event is "time limited"? I thought it was running from June 10 to August 19? Sounds like a pretty good stretch to me.

Saying this is just a credit sink to drain players before strongholds is like when people said that hourly cartel market sale was designed to drain players of coins in anticipation of strongholds. How many free coins have we gotten since then? How many millions of credits do most players have?

What does a pull on the Smuggler's Luck machine cost?

Edit: Or you can do the math yourself. On average, it will be 5,000 times the cost of one pull on Smuggler's Luck, unless Smuggler's Luck also has a 50% retry, in which case it's 2,500 times the cost of one pull on Smuggler's Luck.

1000 credits. And yes, you have a 50% chance of playing again on the Smuggler's Luck machine currently. (It could change on Live.)

Someone calculated that it would be about 10k credits for a Kingpin Token from the Smuggler's Luck Machine. Using those, the cost of the rancor with the Feeling Lucky buff is about 5k credits + mucho time.

I barely passed maths so no, I won't even try. Don't want to risk bleeding my eyes and xploding my head. It costs 1000 credits to buy a smuggler's token.

Smuggler also rewards double tokens quite often.

Assuming no 50% retry then, it's 1,000 * 5,000 = 5,000,000, about 10% of the price of using Kingpin. But you're going to pull the handle ten times as many times using Smuggler as you would using Kingpin.

That's Expected Value which is something like average. Some will get insanely lucky. Some will never ever get it via pulls no matter how many credits they put in or how many times they pull the lever.

  • 5 weeks later...
Luck a horrible way to run an event with such a colossal reward just teased at players.. I been a Star Wars fan since child hood played almost everything lucasarts put out, been a sub to TOR since launch and I have collectors edition from launch back when they said we'd get exclusive stuff.. I've spent well over $500 in cartel coins over the past year+ in "support" of Star Wars (my excuse) yet Dumping my $$ that I converted to credits into an "Event" just to watch as people in chat claim rancor after boasting they don't even care about Star Wars or about the mount itself and plan to sit in fleet doin nothing but brag or better yet claim they're 5th and 6th rancor!!! I have nothing and I'm 2.5 mil deep in smuggler tokens - how many KP tokens is that? At least BW please give a % bonus device or something from the collectors edition vendor that makes it a tad less hair pulling for CE ppl I don't think many can argue that ..I just wana pop rancor and go back to PVE and PvP I haven't seen my guild since the patch cuz I'm in the casino and if I give up and go home I'll look at every KP rancor I see as a monument to how much being a true fan has no meaning anymore..
