This is the most smooth MMO launch I've ever played. Maybe your computer sucks.

DarthDolemite
Yesterday was quite a day here in Austin. We likely had the largest one-day subscription account registration process in MMO history – over one million people are now registered players of the game, and the number is growing rapidly. As you might imagine, this presented a huge strain on our infrastructure and systems, but the good news is that we seem to be through the worst of it now thanks to folks working hard all day to serve our community. And as Greg mentioned in his earlier note, we've also been working hard on resolving queues – those being another side effect of the huge demand for Star Wars: The Old Republic over the past week. We were definitely anticipating a very high load but if anything the demand for the game has only exceeded our expectations! We're very appreciative of your support and we look forward to surprising and delighting you throughout the journey ahead. To that end, we plan on letting you know soon about some cool upcoming content planned over the next few months. On behalf of the SWTOR team, Greg and I want to thank you very much for your support, and also your patience yesterday as the team worked hard to process through the huge volume of players trying to register. Thank you, Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk Well Ray and Greg , you might want to start out by removing the sharding system. Then fix your horrible space combat. Then give us a customizable UI. Respond to the forum posts . Enjoy your early subs now, throw a party because in 3 months 1/2 of them will be gone unless you get your act together. Instancing works fine, if you read the sticky then you would know they have UI stuff in the works. Space combat is fine for what it is. Ground combat is the primary focus of the game. Again if you read the sticky you would know they have plans to expand on it later. You know they are a bit busy to be responding to forum posts that's why there are stickies with announcements from them. Company founders typically don't have time to respond to people who can't be bothered to read the stickies.

raradra
Despite some trouble getting my account registered, my ticket did finally get answered and I've luckily not suffered any loss of play time. Keep it up Bioware! You're having a great launch and just awesome stability. My second launch ever that didn't crash on launch day even once
dynamostia
Well.. I'd like to say thanks to the creators of this game.. I am having an awesome mindnumbling experience par excellence. There are clearly a few bugs which I am sure you are aware of. Whilst the list might grow, one issue that is highly annoying is during flashpoints when someone (i.e. ME) dies. Rather than be ported back to the start of the flashpoint we are moved back out of the entire venture. THe game loads and puts me outside the flashpoint. This involves a wait screen, loading the old area and then reloading the flashpoint again as I re-enter. If thats not annoying enough.. having just been knocked off a platform in hammer station at the end boss when I re-enter just as the team has killed the boss I am then excluded from the loot. And shortly afterwards the game crashed. Not a happy situ. Hope you are working towards resolving this because I think it will become a huge area of complaint in futurte. wellwisherelf
Now we know why they required people to enter payment information before their free month ended, so they could post some PR report to inflate their ego. It's just dirty tactics to require people to "subscribe" early, as some people who wouldn't have played past the first month otherwise will get charged for a month of game time if they forget to cancel before their free 30 days are expired. Frankly, I'm sickened by this.
BHunterBuffy
Well, they didn't get anything but US$1.60 from my debit card when I subscribed (because that's all that was there). If they don't fix the glaring critical problems (Guild/General/Party Chat, Mail to Alts, Preferences saving like they are supposed to, to name a few) by 20 Jan 2011, they won't be getting the second sub from me. Asacledhae
Ok before you start telling me stupid thing like you don't know how to spell english and blablabla am french and am 31 senior sound designer for the biggest Video game company TY bioware for this incredible game and a perfect launch like this i did a lot of MMO launch (SWG WOW CONAN LOTOR etc.) and you guys did the smoothness one Come on, it's fun to see people trolling all over the place about things they do not know.. Like how a 3D engine works for example, or how much time it's required to properly rig a character (textures not included), or the effort to keep the imported geometry "light" enough but yet smooth, calculating of course all the little details, and the variety of video cards and PCs in the market.. But that's the problem.. People usually judge the "picture", without realizing how much time and effort is required for the people behind it to make it possible.. I know what you're going to say to me.. "I Pay for the picture, so i expect it to be perfect!". That would've been excellent, as a picture is fixed, and can't be changed once you print it.. MMOs change however, even after their "printing".. No software is flawless out there.. Even Windows have flaws.. Even the best game in the "world" has flaws, people just didn't encounter them yet, or paid no attention to them.. So if a bug is out there, a company that respects it's name will fix it.. Either way, I'm happy Bioware decided to roll this game, not only cause I'm a huge Star Wars fan, but also cause it's fun, relaxing, and has voice-over.. EDIT : Why aren't Hutts a playable race!? Why must you insist on typing with colors, thinking you are more important than everyone else? To answer your issue: They didn't charge you anything. This has been addressed many times. Your 'sub' won't be charged until January 20th. Within 7 days of the initial "charge" (it's not a charge, it's an authorization, a 'ping' as it were) will be returned to your card. VChiaz
This was a great launch. I consider myself new to the MMO genre because other MMOs seemed to miss what this game has in abundance; attention to detail. The voice acting is wonderful. I love the way the story guides me through the best parts of the world. I love hunting for datacrons. I love how my companions make remarks throughout the journey. I love the combat. And I certainly love the smuggler's story. This game is great! Thank you so much! Edited December 24, 2011 by VChiaz

EternusIV
To the OPs: Awesome work. We are loving the game in our household and you've created a FUN game that should draw folks in for years to come. The potential for improvement is vast and the quality of the released product far exceeds the cost of the game IMHO. Happy Holidays to your families. Aethena
Thank you very much for making the game. It is so much more than I expected. The voice acting, cutscenes and dialogue wheel (combined with the light/dark choices) have really immersed me in the game and made me much more involved with my character. While in other MMOs I've blindly accepted quests without reading the text, I now find myself doing things like yelling at the screen, clapping in glee or spamming my attack buttons in anger and disgust at a character who's betrayed me. Really well done!

Thank you, Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk I just want to ask this you 2 why do you hate us that much I mean you do really good mmo but when it comes to character creation you feel like being in 2007/2008 also the resrource bug has not been dealt with because if you see a spot on the map you should be able to get the resource In Mass Effect 2 witch is your Creation as well you had more options then on this Character Creation who is in charge of it get the designer from mass effect and let him do an improved Character Creation considering that Mass Effect 2 is older i do not seem to understand why you give us an spartan Character Creation in a Next Generation MMO ? If the Community ask for a detailed Character Creation then do it after all we pay for the Time in The Old Republic and what is so diffcult for you to at least consider a detailed character creation you could do it mass effect and dragon age so why not do it in the old Republic Edited December 25, 2011 by bloomfireblade
