Zuda Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Ok, short and sweet....I played SWTOR for 1 month at launch, went back to WoW, and after a year I've returned. 90% of my MMO experience has been with WoW, I've tanked, healed, and been dps. I can handle any of the roles, in that game at least. My question is, what is the smarter role to adopt for a first full playthrough character; tank, healer, or dps? Is the learning curve for flashpoints bad?
cabled Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 learning curve for flashpoints is not steep. since you have some prior experience with games of a similar genre, my suggestion would be to try with whichever you think you'd be most comfortable with. Each class has its own complications and there isn't one that's clear-cut easiest as its quite dependent on playstyle.
morfius Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Role - DPS... as in every game. Class... it is more about AC than base class... and it is more about what do you prefer - melee/range, stealth or caster & so on. If you plan to go in endgame ... tanks & healers are bottleneck as always. Last but not least, what kind of story you like more... they all differ (heroic, fun, military, diplomatic, strategic).
VitalityPrime Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Definitely the DPS role. You basically just wait for a Tank to attack first and then run in and...damage. Tanks and Healers have to pay a lot more attention to everything and everyone around them...and if you "fail" at your job, it's a lot more noticeable.
