EXtremeParadox Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Hello. I recently started a Sage and so far I'm enjoying the change of my usual dps. But I have been having some issues. Whenever I go into a pvp round, I constantly get bombarded with attacks and get taken down really quick. It's not because my stats are not any good, but because it seems they constantly gang up on me. Is this normal in PvP. Do people tend to kill healers so they wont heal other players. This is very frustrating, please answer.
EXtremeParadox Posted August 26, 2013 Author Posted August 26, 2013 just heal to full and you will be ok. I try to but everyone seems to kill me fast enough and I don't have any time to heal.
Marius_Xerxes Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 (edited) I try to but everyone seems to kill me fast enough and I don't have any time to heal. That is just a perception problem. But don't fret. The class is easy to get into, just hard to master. Healing to full is the first and most important skill you can learn. Follow that with learning to use line of sight. Maybe try DPS spec first. I hear they can heal to full much easier then heal spec sorcs Edited August 27, 2013 by Marius_Xerxes
wishihadaname Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 In case you haven't guessed yet your being meme trolled. Bunch of people on here pissed off because BW didn't buff sorcs and responded to their class questions by saying they should use their heals to their advantage and hence don't need anything. Realistically speaking, healing is helpful but you shouldn't be surprised that people focus you. DPS sages do a crapton of damage when left alone and a healer sage has huge output if uninterrupted. This coupled with the perception of an easy kill makes you get targeted much more. I play gunnery commando (another class that gets focus ALOT). Here is a bit of advice to help you out. 1) Stay near team mates, hopefully they have half a brain and will help you out if you get rushed. 2) Keep your bubble up, and reapply it whenever possible, I know from personal experiance trying to pop those things that they can be annoying. 3) Don't sit there and take it to the face. If you get attacked, react, and do so fast. 4) Hold the high ground. Set at an elevated point, it makes it much easier to punt melee guys further away. 5) Don't sit around with half health, you're asking for a sneak to come blow you away. 6) Stay away from the front line, you want to make enemies go through your melee guys before they can get to you. 7) Learn where the health/powerup packs are on each map, sprint for them if you are getting hammered. 8) Get/hotkey warzone medpacks and stim packs. If you are getting focused pop the stim first and then the medpack. Hope this helps.

L2P, H2F, you have a perception problem. -Sorry
FrogSkin Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 (edited) ... Is this normal in PvP. Do people tend to kill healers so they wont heal other players. This is very frustrating, please answer. Not in the bloody pug's I seem to run with. It supposed to be normal, but they always seem to leave the healers alone and all attack their own targets, ensuring we get smashed. wishihadaname Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Come to the light side, we have better pugs.
Marius_Xerxes Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 In case you haven't guessed yet your being meme trolled. Wait who is trolling? I simply told him exactly what the Devs told the community. Are you saying the Devs trolled the community?
RStoney Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Hello........ ....... but because it seems they constantly gang up on me. Is this normal in PvP. Do people tend to kill healers so they wont heal other players. This is very frustrating, please answer. Yes, this is normal. As wishihadaname pointed out - As a sage, not only are you relatively easy to kill (compared to some other classes) but if they do not kill you quickly you are either going to bring quite a bit of dps or healing to the fight. Neither of those scenarios end well for the other team. (but is a fun time for you!) So, keep mobile. Several of your skills can be cast on the run, learn which ones, use them often while moving. Find the little nooks you can cast from and not be noticed as much. Center of the fight ball = dead sage. You have a good 30 meter range, you should seek to use at least 20 meters at all times. 28 is even better, if you have suitable targets. High spots as wishihadaname pointed out, should be your habitat. Also, learn to keep track of where the healers are tucked away. Having one of them around (and hammering anyone who touches your healer) nothing aggravates a healer more than trying to save you with heals, as you run AWAY from them. ack ! Be easy for them to heal, and stay around them-paying extra special attention to the smashers and such who try to take them out. Make them pay.
Solloby Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 I've played both Operative and Sorc heals, and Sorcs/Sages get blown up ridiculously easy. Once someone realises you are a healer, you will get marked and the enemy team will purposely gang up on you, but there are a couple of things you can do to combat this. >>> A number of times I've tricked the enemy into think I'm the healer when I'm on my DPS sorc by healing others, and they'll leave their target to wail on me, only to find I can dps them just fine and am not the real healer so they've just wasted time switching targets for no good reason. You can work this the other way by throwing out force lightning/throw rocks or w/e it is sages do when you first enter a battle. It's a highly visible spell (moreso for Empire) that will make some of your enemies ignore you at first while they look for the real healer, not realising it's you. >>> As a healer you need to learn to kite and LoS. Choose LoS points where you can run circles around a pillar or building, and use force slow or stun to buy time. Try to choose a LoS point where you can be in range of most of your team, but not visible to the enemy, or only a step away from LoSing them. >>> Don't facetank anything. Use overload/force push to get them away. Stun or force slow them and run. Don't backpedal, either strafe or mouse run. Try to run to teammates and bubble them, hopefully they will get the picture that you need their help. >>> Stand back from the action. Hover near max range if possible, it's likely the enemy won't see you for all the melee and people close up, and if they do it'll take them valuable time to get to you, during which your dpsers get free attacks off on them. If anyone jumps over to you/a stealthy opens on you, force speed to your team. If you know they aren't going to rage at you for it, you can also extricate an ally and bubble them to show them you are a healer. >>> Mark yourself with a green symbol so your team knows you're a healer, and heal during the setup time as it should encourage a tank to put Guard on you. Try to stay near your Guarding tank. Sometimes people will run over to me, even on my DPS sorc after I bubble/offheal them, simply to be in my range because they know I'll throw some heals on them. Or they'll be running past me so they can get out of combat and selfheal up, then turn around when they realise someone's throwing heals on them and jump back into the action. If you are marked, hurt dpsers are more likely to run to you, allowing you to hover further away from the combat. This is good for say Voidstar, where you can heal both sides at once in certain areas if your teammates from each side run to you near the middle.
EXtremeParadox Posted August 27, 2013 Author Posted August 27, 2013 Thanks for all the help really appreciate it.
