MaxTNT Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 (edited) Reading through the Sorc forum, I've noticed that people, obviously, like various builds of Sorc DPS(Ligtning, Madness or Hybrid). And while most topics are about PvP, I'm here to discuss PvE. I prefer Madness in PvE and in my attempts to play as Lightning(guildies told me it was stronger. more bursty) I've found it underwhelming and the parses ended up lower then the damage I do in Madness. A thing that I did find very strange is that, as a Madness Sorc I know my Force fluctuates and i need to Consume before almost every Deathfield to keep up my Force(my healers love me in long boss fights...) As a Lightning Sorc you could just as well not have a Force bar at all. the term 'Force Issues' is completely unknown to Lightning Sorcs. Now is this just me, or does this seem totally 'unfair' and 'out of balance'? Madness has the following Force regeneration buffs: - Sith Efficacy: Force Lightning damage restores 1% of your Force - Lightning Burns: Force Lightning(20%) and Lightning Strike(60%) have a chance to apply Lightning Burns which restores 2 Force after a second - Focal Lightning: Force Lightning(20%) and Lightning Strike(100%) have a chance to grant 1% alacrity(stack 4 times) - speeds up casting and Force regeneration Lightning has these Force regeneration buffs: - Subversion: Lightning Strike increases your Force Regen by 10% for 10 secs(stacks 3 times) - Lightning Effusion: Force criticals make your next two Fore abilities cost 75% less - Lightning Storm: Thundering Blast(60%) and Force Storm(20%) make Chain Lightning costs no Force Now I am well aware that on top of these Force regeneration buffs Madness also has the following Health Regen buffs to compensate for the health loss of Consume(but you are still left with the regeneration debuff): - Parasitism: Critical hits from your periodic damage abilities restore 1% health - Deathfield: heals you for 1% per target(up to 5) - Devour: Increases the health restored from Deathfield by 100% Small bit of math here: Consume: 15% health for 8% Force with a 25% regeneration debuff for 10secs. Now can we regain 15% health in 10secs, assuming we don't want to receive multiple stacks of Consume? - Multiple targets: Deathfield restores 10% HP(5 hits, 2% per hit with Devour), so we only need 5 DoT crits in 10secs and with 25% crit, this is easy - Single target(boss fight): Deathfield restores only 2% HP, so we need 13 crits from DoTs in 10secs and with 25% crit, this is much harder. Now, we have three DoTs; Crushing Darkness(8secs), Creeping Terror(18secs) and Afliction(18secs). So in the span of 10secs we have 3x8secs+2x2secs=28 DoT ticks, with a 25% crit chance this means 7 Crits...so ONLY 7% health regeneration on single target, not 13% To me these two are in an entirely different league. the regeneration buffs in Lightning are so much better, it doesn't even compare. I would suggest buffing the Force regeneration from Madness so it is more maintainable in long boss fights without massive use of Consume. a buff such as Lightning Burns restoring 2% Force instead of just 2 Force - (2% = 10/12 Force (depending on 'Reserves') OR/AND Force Lightning restoring more then 1% (5%?) Force per tick Let me know what you think... Edited August 26, 2013 by MaxTNT
Darth_Dreselus Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 These problems should go away once you master the class, but it may take a level of skill you may not be comfortable with.
FrankyFin Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 (edited) they are well aware of your perception problems, so maybe theyll nerf bubble but make it cost less force. Edited August 26, 2013 by FrankyFin
pauljc Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Let me know what you think... That was an good post full of well-reasoned questions and arguments, to which I respond: Have you tried healing to full? Buy cartel packs.
