Zakitty Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 I have full pvp conq. gear, purple willpower augs, accuracy enhancements, been playing this charc. since launch I still can't one on one a sorc who is lightening spamming me, I'm playing a 0/10/36 balance spec. I have tried everything. Is there really that big a difference? By the time I cleanse, she is spammed me to 1/2 health, I can only bring them down 1/2 way by the time I'm dead. I'm not a noob, I can kill almost anyone one on one (with some exceptions, but I should be able to kill a sorc), and I can't. Any constructive suggestions? Q'anora Jung Ma:eek:
Riincewind Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Are you facetanking a Lightning Sorc or are ytou using LoS to your advantage? Lightning Sorcs will hurt alot if you stand there and let them cast, but if you keep breaking their line of sight, forcing them to run after you you stop them from hurting you as much as they cant run and cast. Your balance which is the same as madness if I am correct so that means your damage comes from dots, keep your dots on them. Run, when they hit you with affflictio9n cleanse it as if you dont TB will be a autocrit. Just keep running and use the battel field to your advantage. Oh and dont forget to heal yourself to full, they will so you should too. Do that and you should make them pay for attacking you.
Darth_Dreselus Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 (edited) You don't. They can heal to full and will make you pay for trying to kill them (about 2k credits on average). Edited August 25, 2013 by Darth_Dreselus
Zakitty Posted August 25, 2013 Author Posted August 25, 2013 thanks for the suggestions, I will try to los more and kite them more, I find them harder to kite then jugs and mauraders. Yes most of my fights have been toe to toe, I'm just amazed on how good the sorcs are. I should have went dark side, I dunno, maybe its just me.
Helig Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Sorcerer is your direct mirror. If you lose a facetank fight, he's better geared, and/or better at his rotation. As Balance, you should make full use of LoS and DoTs.

As Balance, you should make full use of LoS and DoTs. They do still have the upper hand because of smoother animations, force lightning not bugging as much as telekinetic throw, chain lightning not being delayed because of the animation as telekinetic wave... No one talks about that anymore, of course, as if such issues magically disappeared, they didnt. I'm sure thats not the reason the op is having these issues but they could very well be a part of the equation.
TheNahash Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 (edited) Any constructive suggestions? Q'anora Jung Ma:eek: If they're spamming Force Lightning, that means they're balance specced. Which also means that they too, rely on their dots for most of their damage, just like you do. So, in addition to LoSing them, you should always remember to bubble and cleanse yourself from their dots. Interrupting Force Lightning can also be useful, since that is their only channeled ability (and one of the hardest hitting ones in general) so that will also buy you a few seconds to reapply your dots on them/FiB them or stun them. Something that has been the subject of ridicule lately is healing yourself. The devs made it seem like that's the basis of our fighting but while that's not true, we do have the upper hand in a fight against a sorc/sage who doesn't los/stun us and heal himself or a class that can't heal themselves in a 1vs1 fight - well, at least when we are decently geared and the skill level of both players is similar. So make sure you do that too when the fight is close. A common mistake I see fellow sorcerers/sages make, is that they just stand there not trying to LoS me, while I hug pylons and try to LoS them as much as possible. If you cleanse yourself when their dots are applied (Affliction/Crushing Darkness/their Sever Force) and use your defensive skills wisely (bubble, Force Barrier) then you can win almost any fight against a Madness/Balance Sorc/Sage. Lastly, I'm pretty sure accuracy is near useless in PVP. None of our gear pieces has it (I assume there would at least be a couple of Accuracy enhancements in our Force Master's PVP gear if it was even remotely important). I could be wrong, though. Maybe someone else can pitch in on the subject. Edited August 29, 2013 by TheNahash
