If I want to solo play Pve Tank style, are all tanks the same.

Basically, I mean, for example would the Counselor shadow Kinetic tank survivability be similar of that of a Jedi Knight tank PVEing

Its just that I heard some Tanks are are better for solo play, some are better for groups play (maybe another is better for another style) ?

Thanks

Keyboard Ninja did an analysis of the three different Tanks and what's referred to as 'Spikiness' (in otherwords, the overall effect of incoming damage on the Tank). The overall conclusion was that the Shadow tank is significantly more likely to die than the other two. In fact, he said that Shadow Tanks are very, very close to being RNG Tanks (in other words, their ability to survive at any given time is entirely dependant on tbe game's RNG). Now, a Shadow is fine for playing PvE, but in an end-game environment when you're doing Raids and such, you'll find that a Shadow Tank may actually get you kicked. A Shadow DPS, on the other hand, should be just fine.

For solo play, you're better off speccing DPS or hybrid. DPS really. The solo content is easy - it's been designed to be doable as any class - but takes a lot of time to finish on a tank.

As a Shadow you can cut a lot of time from your quests by sneaking. It's strongly recommended, because your DPS will suck.

All tanks are better for group play than for solo. A tank+DPS group is about as strong as 3 random players, and tank+DPS+healer as 5.
