How to make PVP exciting, fun, and get more into it

The answer BW needs to turn to is a weekly/twice weekly pvp siege. This can be called a guild siege, because it would be done from a guild. They had it in another MMO I played, and it was the biggest part of the game. Every one wanted to be involved, it had drama, and it was exciting. Drama is necessary for all MMOs to be competitive and exciting, and this allowed it. Here's how it worked:

 

-Guilds bid credits to take part in guild siege, top 8 guilds were picked to participate in the siege.

-Teams of 8 were formed from each guild

-Fights took place in a small arena, very hectic playstyle, extremely difficult conditions

-6 toons allowed inside arena area at a time, rest were in "stands" waiting for some one to die for respawn

-Kills by guild leader counted as 2, kills by normal people 1, and kills on a set role as "defender" counted as +1. This added further strategy by having to setup roles to maximize points

-Rewards give to top 3 guilds, very cool stuff. In this game it was very good pvp gear, and custom stuff

 

Obviously, SWTOR is different than other MMOs though, so here's an idea of how to reform this idea into a fun, very competive, exciting match:

 

-Guilds will still bid for their chance to partake in the siege. Instead, top 4 guilds from EACH side, pubs and empire will get into the guild siege. The Empire side will be teammates, fighting against the republic in an arena.

-Each guild will send 8 toons to the arena, and just like the way the other worked, only 5/6 should be allowed to be inside the arena at one time.

-Scoring can work as a normal deathmatch where each kill is counted. Also be sure to have a leaderboard pop up and be checkable after every siege that displays what character got the most kills, least deaths, etc. This gives incentive to work up fame as the best PVPer in the game.

-Rewards will be a +25% or +50% xp boost for the week to the side that wins the match. This makes the Republic-Empire competitive spirits work up to the maximum.

-MVP guild will be declared as the guild who got the most points, possible give them a symbol beside their guild name if possible for the week, or a special armor set to last for the week that looks cool.

-Guilds participating on winning side will win credits back.

 

 

Feel free to add on ideas or input onto this. I think it would add something that PVP in SWTOR really lacks and that is sustained competition. When there's ranked WZs after ranked WZ, there's no such thing as bragging rights or really declaring who the best PVPers in the game is. This would effectively make the game more exciting as it would be a community event which effects the side because of the xp boost. Every one would want to come watch in "stands". It would make PVP a larger part of the game than it is now, which would be a very nice thing for the game.

Or, just do what my guild does:

 

-Pick a planet

-Go to Republic spaceport on said planet, or other high traffic areas

-Hold area for as long as we can, only leaving when we are tired or the group disbands

-Rinse and repeat

 

This also an easy fix to all the complaints about warzones.
