joshohelp Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Hello community members and Bioware/ EA employees and community management. I took a 7 month break from swtor recently because of dealing with RL issues. I came back on Thursday of last week. After playing my trooper for a little while. Still trying to finish the class story for him (Level 42) I realized how fun the game was and how nice and funny most of the community was. After that I made 5 more characters 4 were on the Ebon Hawk which is my main server and I made a sith inquisitor on Jung Ma where my friends wanted to play on. After a week of being back to SWTOR I've played nonstop for hours at a time. Not because I wanted to grind to 50, honestly I could care less about getting to 50. I played it so much because I honestly enjoyed it. I enjoyed doing a warzone or two and playing huttball an hearing people say "Pass the ball up here" or "Focus on the Juggernaught before he gets the ball! quick!" I enjoyed those moments. I also liked doing flashpoints and heroics with people. Not to mention since the trooper has been the only class I've played for a year and a half mostly. I enjoyed going to other classes and working on their stories. At the moment I'm working on my Jedi Consular Iyuna. I know not many people like the Consular story, but I'm really enjoying the slower pace and more emphasis on diplomacy and knowledge than anything else. I know SWTOR has had a very tough time keeping it's head up and that the free-to-play model isn't the best. I realized however that it is getting better. For instance in Game Update 2.4 they are taking away the free to play warzone restrictions. It helps me know that Bioware are learning and are committed to this project. It's not something they will let die out. Also considering that this is Bioware's first MMO project they are doing pretty well and i commend them for all their hard work, blood, sweat, tears, and bad facial hair growth (Dallas Dickinson) that they put into this game. It's also great at the shear amount of Voice Actors they actually go to do this project. They actually won a guineas world record for the most voice actors in entertainment ever. So, that is what I had to say. tell me your thoughts I would love to hear them.
Kaedusz Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Your endorphin levels are really high for whatever reason. Seriously though, swtor has this effect after a huge break or when you are new. It's really shiny.
LordArtemis Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 This is how you post game praise. Well done OP.
Thorkir Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 (edited) I'd have to express similar sentiments. My brother talked me into trying SWTOR again after I decided to quit WoW. Hardly put it down over the last few days, except to go to work. However, I suffer from making far too many alts and switching between them, just as I did in WoW. It's still way more fun than questing in WoW though. Edited August 23, 2013 by Thorkir
Nemmar Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 I think theres no denying that the game is fun to play despite some content flaws. Its why i sticked around all this time. Its also why i used to play Guild Wars 1. Not because theres a ton of content but because its fun to play. Content plays a bigger role nowadays though and SWTOR needs a proper expansion (or reboot ala FFXIV) that moves the game forward.
mmjarec Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Must have not had many experiences if swtor is the best

leene Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Must have not had many experiences if swtor is the best Moving on... Thanks for this post, OP! I had a mini hiatus as well and am enjoying the game immensely again. Nice to know that other people do as well (it's hard to tell when browsing the forums sometimes).

crimsyn Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Talk about a try-hard troll. Go away, and don't forget to take your hater-ade with you.
ImperialSun Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 (edited) Glad yolu found each other for that validation Whereas you feel the need to bash the game/OP in a thread that conveys a positive experience in order to validate yourself....wow thats sooooo hipster. When I grow up, I want to be just like you Driz Edited August 23, 2013 by ImperialSun
Selenial Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Just an FYI, Consular Story is my favourite due to act's 2 and 3.... And it's great to see you're enjoying it, I was forced out due to computer problems/Holiday, and I've really missed it
LordArtemis Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Glad yolu found each other for that validation ...as I am sure you are glad you found yourself for your own.
HakkaP Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 (edited) Yes it is a good experience. Not saying one of my best experience in gaming, but I do enjoy playing, why else would I play. Of course there are lot of things I would have done differently. I would have made more story based heroics with more intriguing mechanics, just like they were mini flashpoints. I really enjoy doing heroics, cause unlike flashpoints what are seperate from the world, you feel more part of the it doing heroics. I would say my best experience in this game have been doing heroic 4:s, when our group had a semi-healer or something that made them thougher. But sadly most of the time they are too easy if you have a good group. The hardest part of it is actually finding the group. But enough with that. Im the type of player who play 2-3 months and take 4-6 months break and come back again. Been playin 4 weeks now, and really enjoying bounty hunter story and the character. AlaricSevGirl Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 I went away for 6 months to GW2 and brought back my entire guild (that was in February). I just resubbed for another 6 months because frankly, I also love the game. I'm on The Ebon Hawk and found the best guild to roleplay with and my guild is not getting into it too which is great. What I love: 1) The dailies. I know everyone hates them, but I love doing them. It's quick, easy money and I find them a lot of fun. It keeps me in practice on my level 55s. 2) The dye system. Sure it's not GW2 system, but it's at least good enough so that I could change the concealed armor to dark purple and black with only 1 dye module. 3) Collections. I love collections and since I RP, all of my characters have a rather large wardrobe. 4) Flash Points, we can't help it. My guild RPs through them and loves it. So much fun. 5) Cartel market even sometimes the packs. Really. It supports the game, keeps it alive and I get some fun armor out of it.
Tents Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Glad yolu found each other for that validation Please just quit the game, we don't need people like you. OT: Great post OP, I agree with everything you've said. Despite SWTOR's flaws the game is improving and I'm still enjoying it as I have been from the start. It's fun to have a mix-up of quests, WZs and FPs.
Ilayas Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 It's nice to know at lest someone else is enjoying this game. If you spend too much time on these forums it's easy to come to the conclusion that everyone hates this game; yet for some reason, they continue to pay money to play something they loathe.
LordArtemis Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 (edited) Criticizing the game or praising it is one thing. Criticizing those that like or dislike the game is a completely different matter. It is a fairly obtuse viewpoint IMO, especially since it doesn't likely achieve what the antagonist desires...that people will either agree with the viewpoint or that they will feel better offering the criticism. When your opinion is not popular there is usually a reason for that. It is not likely something you will change by putting down those that do not agree with you...and it is also likely you will receive little to no satisfaction from doing so. If you wish for people to agree with you it is far more likely you will achieve success AND self respect by simply presenting a logical case for all to consider. Edited August 23, 2013 by LordArtemis

Ardarell_Solo Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 (edited) There's not enough threads like this one, thanks for sharing your experience. I'm still awed myself: Lightsabers man, I HAVE LIGHTSABERS!!!! :-) Edited August 23, 2013 by Ardarell_Solo
bionamaster Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Glad to have you back from reality, and happy to see some positive thinking on the Forums, OP.
Ayelinna Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Praise the game, and no one bats an eye... Criticize the game, and everybody loses their minds.
bionamaster Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Praise the game, and no one bats an eye... Criticize the game, and everybody loses their minds. Threads criticizing the game are a dime a dozen..... Threads praising the game are rare. Two can play at this game.
TravelersWay Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 (edited) Praise the game, and no one bats an eye... Criticize the game, and everybody loses their minds. Because, you see, there are many people who actually enjoy playing the game, despite having similar problems that plague every other single game in existence in one capacity or another. Most "criticizing" posts amount to nothing more than "this game is dead.' "this game should have been KOTOR III." or "This game should have been SWG 2.0." Only a very small percentage of criticizing threads actually provide constructive and helpful criticizing, and even then, the suggestions primarily are based upon the individual's personal preferences for playing a game and do not necessarily accommodate other preferences or playstyles. In the end, you will find many of the "Fanbois" operate under the belief that if one does not enjoy doing something, then one should stop doing said activity and find something to do that they really enjoy. Not doing so seems to be a waste of time and in fact reflects poorly upon the person who not only refuses to do so, but continually writes to the Interwebs about it.
