WarbNull Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 So I was just online in the Fleet and someone was talking about their Chair Emote that they just got and were trying out. Apparently for this person their character was Floating above the chair and not even sitting in it. They were right their in the Fleet trying it out and just floating over it. So.... It seems they can not even get the Emote to work right all the time either. Amazing... Anyways.... Since they can not seem to fix it so that we can just click on chairs and sit in them like normal they decide to cut corners and give us an Emote in order to sit. Like this would keep us from asking for the ability to sit in chairs. Fixing the game so that we have the ability to sit was something we have been asking for. Now what are they going to do since it does not seem to work right all the time as well? Is it going to take another year or two to now fix the Emote or are they going to come up with some other new way to sit and charge us for it as well? As for the Emotes. It is sad that we have to pay for them. Or even for anyone having to pay for them so that it can be placed on the GTN. Especially now since they are not completely working right for some people. But that is what we get when we have a F2P System were the developers are only focused on the Cartel Market. My opinion: I personally think that Sitting in Chairs should not be done through an Emote. We should just be able to Click on any chair and sit in them. I really hope they fix it so that we can just walk into a Cantina and Click on any empty Chair and sit in it. Plus have them fix the ones on our ships that do not work right. The Hell with an Emote. The Emotes would only be good for sitting out in some odd place on the planets. Like out in the middle of the Dune Sea on Tatooine. Maybe keep them for situations like that. But they really need to fit is so that we can just use chairs the way we have been asking them to be implemented. I will say this. At least they were smart enough to make sure a Chair appeared underneath the player when they used the Emotes. I feared they would have missed that part since they were just cutting corners and trying to cash in on some more things for the Cartel Market.
TechbotAlpha Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 F2P: Translation: lol, who cares about RPers? Shut up and gives us your money, you mewling little vermin! Yeah, well, screw them as well ¬_¬
GatorAndy Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 (edited) I'm not really sure why anyone who only RPs would ever subscribe. There are no benefits for those people as far as I know. Also, vaguely insulting comments like "I knew they would cut corners, no surprise there..." are always a great way to get what you want. Edited August 21, 2013 by GatorAndy
AlienEyeTX Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 It's not just the chairs that have issues, ifyouknowwhatImean. I tried chair 1&2 and didn't notice my character floating. I'll have to log back in and look. Maybe it depends on the character model/body type?
ImpactHound Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 level 30ish and up heavy armor BH backbacks float off of the back and aren't connected in a very obvious way. Just bad modelling, time and again...

I do not remember wording what I said like that. ROFL It's not just the chairs that have issues, ifyouknowwhatImean. I tried chair 1&2 and didn't notice my character floating. You mention that a guy was talking about this in general chat. Did you see this for your self or are just taking someones word and trolling the forum?

I don't just sub to RP. The whole point of a GAME is to have gameplay. TOR has that and, while it's not perfect by a long shot, it's fun enough to be wroth subscribing. However, the RPG part of MMOPRG is being neglected massively by so many developers these days, and that is never something I will be cool with. When a recently deceased seven year-old-engine game could do better than what TOR can do being more modern? Yeah, then people should be asking serious questions, IMO

There was a dev Q&A not too long ago where they were asked about sitting in chairs. I don't remember if it was something posted on this site or one of the fan sites. There's no "it" to fix. It's not like they can just edit some lines of code and, voila, people could sit in every chair. They would have to basically "fix" every single chair in the game, one by one, to make them interactive and give people the ability to sit in them. That's just not high on their priority list given the cost/benefit of spending the time to do that. I don't RP and don't really understand the fascination or apparent fun in sitting in chairs, but perhaps some sort of compromise would be that they could fix just the chairs in the catinas so you guys can sit around the catinas all you want.

Did you see this for your self or are just taking someones word and trolling the forum? We saw the person. Kind of hard to miss. Next time I am online I will try to get a screenshot of it happening to someone. If anyone had issues of floating over chairs in there ship they might have issues with the Emote as well. I am really thinking that it is do to body type.

That game had 4 pages of animated emotes, plus sound effects.

Christ...I hate posts like this. "I don't understand it, so they should just do X." That's like me, someone who has less than no interest in PvP, saying "God, people keep complaining about this, they should just make every class exactly the same, then it would be balanced and fair." I would get bloody crucified for that. However, you are right in one repsect; Bioware can't make a profit out of providing for RPers. Ergo, we'll never get anything from them. Because if they can't milk it for cash, why would they care? ¬_¬
TechbotAlpha Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Talking about City of Heroes? That game had 4 pages of animated emotes, plus sound effects. Yes, yes I am. And dear god do I miss it. The first and best Super Hero MMO, and one of the best RPGs, bar none. Sadly, given the current trend of the MMO market, we won't see its like again. Not while Profit>Everything ....
AlienEyeTX Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 My toon sits on the chair in chair 1&2. In fact, her legs clip slightly into the chair in chair2. Definitely no floating.

Actually it would just be Every Type of Chair. That really cuts it down from every single chair. How many Chair Models are their in the game? (Not looking for and exact answer to that question it is just an general thought in the form of a question.) Doing certain areas a little at a time would be the best way. Like select Cantinas and such. This way they could focus on one area at a time and gradually add each one in as they complete it. So like one patch could be for like two Cantinas or so. One Imperial and one Republic. Then in no time we could have all the areas done. One patch could solely be on the Fleets. Eventually it will be done faster and faster as they could just copy and paste the fixes for the other areas that have similar chairs. Anyways that is something I hope they would be willing to do. Also for those talking about Roll Players. It does not matter if they are RP or not. I am not a Roll Player much and I really want Chairs that I can sit in. There are just times where I want my characters to look like they are hanging out. After all my main is a Smuggler and where and what was Han's most memorable and controversial scene. At least I think it was the most memorable and controversial. Maybe when I am not doing much or say just crafting I want to just sit in a Cantina.
