Hey guys. How does this heal work on high levels? At my lvl it heals practicly NADA. Using talents on it seems pointless because even with 1-2 energy regen on crits, that is such a small energy recovery that points in chem resistant and layer seems a better choice.

Convince me why its good? :)

Diagnostic Scan is absolutely vital, actually. At higher levels, you have a talent that cause critical heals to restore energy to you (also talents that make it channel faster). You want to pad your bigger heals with DS in between and at times when your energy is low, so that you can save your Adrenaline Probe for real emergencies.

It doesn't seem like a lot of healing and energy restored, but believe me, you'll need it.

Allow me to play devil's advocate for a moment here... I've always felt that as long as you have good energy management and know how to keep your energy up, I see DS as more or less optional. A lot of people forget that they can use their Rifle Shot in between heals for an attack that doesn't cost any energy at all and can help it regen a bit.

Now, that said, it never hurts to have DS available just in case or for bosses in endgame stuff that take a while to beat. I myself have DS specced up and I find it nice to have as an option, but I wouldn't go as far as to say it is 'required' so long as you are able to manage your energy well, and also know how long it takes for your Adrenaline Probe to get off cooldown. So if you want the option to keep your energy up or you feel you need an extra boost, by all means spec into it. You certainly don't use it for the heals it puts out, that's for sure!

I think people that are used to Merc DPS type of energy management will really enjoy leaning on Diagnostic scan. It's not a bad thing pve, it's a good filler.

That being said, I don't like having to use it, and I work to avoid it in pvp. PVE I'd recommend it to someone starting out and then I use it when I get into a new situation like a rough HM or overhealing a 16 man.

From being a sorc healer orginally, it took me a while to get op heals energy management down, the more you do it though, the less you have to think about it or resort to energy probe or diagnostic. Alacrity is real nice also if you want to improve your energy management, you can stack it after 71% surge if you want.
