I have read a lot about the end game of SWTOR.

What I want to know is...

...can a purely solo player continue playing their character at max level?

You can do dailies, world events, and space missions. Without doing flashpoints, warzones, heroics, or any group content, you will be limiting yourself to how much gear you can get.

That all said there is nothing stopping you from playing your max level character solo. You will just be missing a lot of content and gear.

You can do all of this and you can also solo the lower level FPs, if you are interested in the story. Also, crafting and earning creds to fund alts.

Define solo. When you say solo you mean you only do solo PvE content or do you consider solo queueing for PvP solo?

I think solo PvE at end game would be pretty boring. You can do dailies but they are pretty static and easy. You can do space missions but they are very repetitive and there aren't that many. Doing solo queue PvP is the only way I could see solo end game being in anyway viable for long term play.

If you truly want to play solo your best bet IMO is to reroll other classes.

I just want to point out you are playing a massively multiplayer game.

There honestly is nothing worthwhile to do alone at end game unless you want to try and do some of the hard modes solo (which would require you to do group content for the gear you would need).

Dailies are just things people do to earn creds while waiting for their groups to form/are locked out of the Ops for the week. Space missions can be successfully botted so that shows you how exciting those are. This isn't the game for you if you want to avoid group content.

I would not go that far, but I would say that end-game content is simply not a viable long term option if you choose not to group. There are eight class stories, 16 Advanced Classes, and a myriad of "character concepts" to play out with regard to alignment that can all be played out completely solo.

Well even if you mean never ever engage in group content for some reason (which I can't imagine you really mean) then there's daily quests for you to do and the events that show up.

But as a solo player you can also queue up for warzones, flashpoints and operations just fine at max level. So technically you have access to about as much content as a solo player as you would with a regular group of people you play with.

Agreed. I enjoy playing solo, I just don't do flashpoints or things that require a group (just my cup of tea), and I still kick ***, and love this game. I'm still only on my first character (Just started playing again recently after a year hiatus), but once I hit 55 / start to get bored, I just plan on rolling another character/class I haven't played before. All in all, just roll another character OP if you start to get bored, or get used to doing things with groups (If you're like me, you'll be doing the former).

You can solo the daily areas and even the makeb weekly to build up a level 55 with basic armor and then elite armor , the makeb weekly gives you 12 elite comms , plus a really great enhancement to switch the not so good ones in the basic armor pieces. I just sent 7 of those enhancements from my main tank to my level 53 tank :). Then when you get bored play on another character.

Cheers,

Yes, it is just not worth it with little of interest to do. Game fails soloists badly and indeed is group or die (or create a new character) once you cap out.

You are correct. but, the OP did not specify playing other toons or just the one toon he started with. If he is wanting to only lay one toon then he will be extremely limited on what he can do for an end-game. This game is designed for group content. I don't see solo players having much to do that would not become extremely boring fast.

I'm genuinely curious what people expect to see for solo play, beyond dailies and events like BBA. I solo almost all the time, but I'm not sure exactly what else there should be for us to do. What would should there be?

I would like to see them put in solo fp's at some point. If for anything else, comms. Unless your are doing guild runs or premade groups with people you've played with, the sucess rate of running pugs is pretty low from my experience.

Solid idea. I support this.

Actually, this is the most solo MMO I've ever played, by a long shot. If solo play is your interest, then you couldn't find a better game for it.

Not only could you solo, easily, right up to max level, but you could shut off your chat box and pretend to be the only person in the game for that whole time and never have any trouble getting to max level.

This is exactly what I do.

I even play on the Europe servers...so when I'm playing...there are usually less than 30 people on a planet or area which really helps with the "only person in the game" idea.

What CK is saying though is that the game is designed this way. It doesn't matter if there's 100 people on the planet, the odds of you running into more than one at a time anywhere are pretty slim because of all the instancing and the layout of the planets. They really did primarily design a single player RPG (what BioWare is known for being good at) and then tacked on some MMO features :p

The 2 new Czerka flashpoints on story mode are fun to solo, if you're somewhat decently geared and have a geared healing companion. Since you need to be in an actual group to use the courtesy kolto station, there's an added layer of difficulty. I've worked my way through both and had a great time.

Naturally, the first time I did them was on my tank. Plenty of memorable moments, but the vigilant was the closest call.

When I finally killed all the cores, the vigilant spawned already enraged. Ouch. I kited and taunted him like a lunatic while my healing companion took pot shots at him with his blaster. Fun was had by all! :rak_03:

I think it might be harder on my operative since you need your companion to survive through the champ cores

You couldn't find a better MMO for it, you could find a better game though. I do agree this is the most solo friendly MMO and they did this intentionally to not lose the KOTOR RPGers that don't like MMOs.

If all people would think exactly alike the world would be quite boring. Having plenty (as in massively) people (as in multiplayer) means you have also many different view, opinions and tastes. I think playing solo in what ever extent is a valid playstyle. Achievement hunting, pet collecting, codex searching, some one on one fights in open world against other players, doing the dailies for credits or for reputation, enjoying events while the last, queue solo for PvP or flashpoints or even operations if one wants to play with others but have no commitment to a guild. Plenty to do in SWTOR, and hopefully more to come for people who enjoy doing things solo in a world where they can meet people but don't have to play with them if they don't like. That'S what MMOs are and always have been and properly will stay that way. So, if you think other playstyles are wrong, maybe this isn't a game for you then?

True, the game is pretty solo friendly from 1 - 55, but not so much at cap. The OP question was addressed to cap level play.

I would perhaps support this IF and only if the mechanics checks on whatever events they put out are crazy hard.

Regardless, swtor is an mmo.

If that means nothing to you, then further discussion is a waste of time

What is wrong with having options?
