Need advice picking a republic class based on story, romance etc.

Hey guys. IA story was so great... but I want to try a republican class now. Im just afraid that from the power hungry sith classes, Evil-James Bond/Jason Bourne personality of my IA, and the constant mass murder and flirting across the universe as imperial classes - I'll find the Republic classes, stories and conversation options utterly boring.

I'm hoping I'm wrong ofcourse! I know you can play DS as republican classes too. But I want to play the more traditional good guy playing a republican class. I dont really like the theme of Scoundrel. I never found being a space pirate/smugler etc. appealing.

So Im thinking Trooper or Consular atm. Mostly because I want to play a healer if I level the class up all the way.

Based on this info, what Republican class would you reccomend me for: Story, Good romance (For males), DS/LS choice and so on? Im just afraid that after playing the IA - I'll find the republican class stories lacking.

Story wise, consular sucks. I haven't leveled a trooper, so I don't know much about theirs. As males, consular get Nadia Grell, a melee dps, and Troopers get Elara Dorne, a healer for romance options. You get elara much earlier in game than nadia. But as consular (sage for heals) you do start off with a tank companion, which helps. Troopers start of with dps, and don't pick up tank until nar shadda, which is fairly early in game. Their next tank is on balmorra iirc. Consular's second tank is on hoth I believe, could be wrong. But if you want the most enjoyable experience, romance/story wise, I'd say level as vanguard tank, rather than commando healer, so you get a lot more use out of elara and should actually end up romancing her then.

I fear that exactly THIS will be the case.

You started the game with the very best story there is - at least a lot of people say so, I haven't played it yet - and you are getting to - according to opinion tendencies in these forums - the FAR least interesting class stories now ... I fear that you will be VERY disappointed.

Please don't expect much.

And, personally, I'd rather advice you to the Jedi Knight or the Smuggler. Really.

And - as a last note - yes, I'm biased.

Oh, suddup. Consular story is great if you have the taste for it. Picks up slow, offers you tips and very satisfying confirmations of your guesses. Gains momentum by the end of chapter 2. I actually liked Nadia for romance option. She's a little cliche, but sweet, nontheless.

As for the Trooper story, it's good. Quite dynamic, but the end was a little underwhelming, to my tastes. Somewhat anti-climactic. Still, has very dramatic turns of events, a couple of tough personal choices and a lot of bad-arseness. Almost Renegade Shepard levels (especially scenes when the Trooper goes hand to hand at close range with squads of Imp troops). Did very much like Dorne. I'm a sucker for women with principles.

Smuggler gets the most tail, no question about that. I do like Risha myself (classy, reasonably b**chy, quite fun to listen to), but if you're into big, muscular girls that can snap you in half just by looking at you, Akaavi is also available. The story itself is nothing special, but it's not the destination that matters here - it's the journey - lots of lighthearted humour, hilarious quotes (like when you tell off a Bounty hunter with a Justin Bieber haircut. Had to replay it a few times to listen to it fully - without laughing) and tons of awkwardness in certain moments. Also, you get to punch a Mon Kalamari in the face.

Would not discount the Knight, as far as romance goes. DS Knights get some delightful romance options early on, including slapping and potentially stabbing. Kira romance is... nice, I guess. Never really understood the fascination with her, but hey, to each their own. Pretty fun sneaking behind the Jedi Council's back, too - and you can do that without a single DS point earned. The general story itself is pretty straightforward high-fantasy heroic. You've got the good guys, you've got the bad guys. Go get'em, tiger. Epicness levels pretty high, DS ending with the final boss is very, very satisfying.

Then again, every story may seem a bit flat after the Agent one. Because the saga of Cypher Nine is so frakking amazing that I have 2 Agents and willing to level a third just for a different gender/alignment combo and alternative story resolutions (got a full LS female Operative X Vector, a full DS male Sniper X Kaliyo - next will probably be a grey male Operative X Temple... I guess. Or solo - undecided).
