DarkJediMage Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 for an assassin, did update 2.0 mess up or nerf the madness skill tree? if yes, how so? i am heard a lot of talk in the gen chats about 'you are suppose use deception'. i want know why or not madness is so taboo. all i know about madness is its dot dmg, more cc or stuns like how a dreadmaster attacks, no cooldowns or shorter activations and good for pvp and pve bosses with aoe attacks that require fast move away/cast technique.
ekimmak Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 The problem is, they lack burst, which is the name of the game for PVP. Sure, they can get nice looking numbers on the gameboard at the end of the warzone, but it's irrelevant if you can't actually kill anyone with it.
DarkJediMage Posted August 20, 2013 Author Posted August 20, 2013 ok . thanks. but i am going to try it on rolan, the zash dream spirit, the thantons. they gave me problems

Not necessarily true; the AoE pressure just isn't enough right now.
ekimmak Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Not necessarily true; the AoE pressure just isn't enough right now. It's not as if I speak from experience, it's just what I've seen people say on the forums. I'd get my own assassin out to try and test it, but she's been locked out due to name conflicts, and I don't feel like renaming one of my core characters.
thejollygreenone Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 (edited) for an assassin, did update 2.0 mess up or nerf the madness skill tree? if yes, how so? i am heard a lot of talk in the gen chats about 'you are suppose use deception'. i want know why or not madness is so taboo. all i know about madness is its dot dmg, more cc or stuns like how a dreadmaster attacks, no cooldowns or shorter activations and good for pvp and pve bosses with aoe attacks that require fast move away/cast technique. for pve madness is marginally better than deception in most situations, however pvp is where deception shines and madness leaves much to be desired. people still play madness in pvp though, sometimes a hybrid build to include a maul proc in deception or some survivability/utility from darkness. but again for pve if you insist on dpsing with an assassin, then madness seems to be the clear route. unless you find yourself enjoying deception substantially (like i do), in which case obviously play which spec you like more, the difference is only marginal as i said. deception even has its advantages in pve, but madness does as well. DarkJediMage Posted August 20, 2013 Author Posted August 20, 2013 thanks for responses. i understand it more. i will give madness a try with zash, rolan, the zash dream spirit, and all versions of thanton including his dream spirit. i know will have problems with their aoes.
