sw-junkie Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 I have been playing this game since pre 1.2 and have gone through and seen a lot of changes in this game. As I was working on leveling my 8th alt character earlier today, I was on fleet waiting for my GF queue, and saw a post in general chat looking for a couple DPS characters to join a raid group. It said they must parse 2600 dps over a 5 minute period to be considered. Now I have been part of many raids that wiped because we couldn't drop a boss before he enraged, but the fact that parsing has now become a pre-requisite for joining a raid group is absolutely ridiculous. No player, should have the means to single out another player as "not good enough to join our little elitist group". It took me about 15 seconds of thought to come up with a couple compromises. take away the ability to prove your DPS numbers. 1. Don't allow any character but the one attacking the dummy to see fly text. This way the dummies can still be used for learning rotations etc. but nobody will be able to make someone "prove" how much DPS they do. 2. Make dummies on ship only and don't allow players access to each others ships anymore 3. Take test dummies out of game altogether This means of passing an ability test in order to pay a game that you pay for monthly is absurd. My guild "carried" many newer level 50's in our guild through raids just to gear them faster. The need is simply not there to have a flawless performing group. If you need ONLY DPS that parse over 2.6k then my feeling is the rest of the group is lacking. Most of the time you don't need top notch performance or gear on every single person to make it through. After all how do you GET the top notch gear - by making it through raids without it and winning loot rolls. Devs - please take into consideration your casual player base is much higher than the hardcore. To be able to see your own dps parse for learning or testing gear configurations is great but there should be no means by which to prove your numbers to another player. Let it be hear-say and let everyone have an equal chance of finding a group.
