Lord_Garrex Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 (edited) It's been 3 1/2 weeks now and I have yet to be in a single HM ops that has successfully completed TC, TFB, or SNV. I get no gear drops, unassembled or otherwise, and am extremely lucky to pick up 80 ultimate comms in a week despite looking at hundreds of thousands of credits in repairs. Additionally, group finder for TFB and SNV is terrible, having queue times in excess of 3 hours without ever actually entering a group. If this keeps up, it will take months to gear up with all 72s. Rage quitters, excessive wipes, terrible tanks and/or heals... Maybe this is just bad luck but as of right now, this game is no longer fun and I'm thinking of either quitting or starting a new toon. Haven't decided yet but I'm leaning towards quitting after 4 consecutive days of running HM Ops and having a whopping 6 ultimate comms to show for it. Something needs to be tweaked here because this sucks. Pardon the rant. Edited August 18, 2013 by Lord_Garrex
Darth-Malice Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 (edited) Get in a good raid guild or stop whining about not getting into good pick up groups for raids. Edited August 18, 2013 by Darth-Malice
magi_melcior Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 Join a guild, problem solved Seriously most guilds run Operations multiple times a week and you don't have to worry about ending up in a PUG group filled with the usual morons whiners and just plain terrible players. Also most guilds use some sort of loot distribution system that is much fairer than the usually need/greed system meaning if you raid enough you'll be geared up in no time. I know for a fact I'd be bored out of my skull if I wasn't in a guild, but this is an MMO it is designed to be played socially.
jedip_enguin Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 So wait, you got in bad pugs with terrible players and that is Biowares fault?
ManiacDavis Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 I didn't see any suggestions to make the system better...
TheNahash Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 So wait, you got in bad pugs with terrible players and that is Biowares fault? yeah... bad pugs...
Ziso Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 Check your server forum and guild recruitment as many guilds post there and you should be able to find one that suits your gameplay.Guild run end game content is best way forward I find as we cover all Ops over a 4 week schedule so plenty there for experienced members and those new to 55 and new to Ops and guilds run groups tend to be more fun, better organised and no rage quitters

JattaGin Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 I fully understand the OP. Level 55 is totally depressing. And I really dislike the standard answer: Get into a guild. I am in a raiding guild. But since I was busy finishing all other stuff first, they got to lvl 72 gear longtime ago and I still have 66 to 69 mods. They run nightmore mode nowadays and I am not allowed due to me gear. No one in the guild bothers to do SM OPs. So, I have to pug. And unfortunately, I have not managed to finish one operation ever with a pug. I don't care about comms or gear. I want to see the story and finally get rid of the missions in my mission log. That's all. Very frustrating. I would buy a cutscene and finish-the-mission without reward from the cartel market, just to finally get this content away.
Kelleth Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 I want a "Reset Story line/Companion Conversations" button, no rewards when resetting though(No XP or items).I have been 55 for a week and I am already geared to the best of my expent outside of Ops.I have little left to do other than leveling another character.

You are unfortunate to have been cursed with both bad pug groups and a guild that clrearly does not give a **** about you. Once again this is not Biowares fault.

Our guild has 5 scheduled ops progression groups and we are always running SMs for new 55s and undergeared members. If your guild can't take an hour or so to help you in a SM op, it's time to find another guild.

Interesting, there hasn't been any comment on that since this quote : Get in a good raid guild or stop whining about not getting into good pick up groups for raids.
Ryluk_Shouja Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 If you hate the standard "get into a guild" speech...your other option is to join groups being made outside of random queue group finder. Try sitting at fleet for a while. If you have 69s from HM flashpoints it will be fairly easy to find a 8-man or 16-man group, and the likelihood of those pugs succeeding is higher IMO. And who knows? You might make friends, join a guild, and get a better experience out of it.
kirorx Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 If you want to do HM ops you will want to do them with a guild or people you run with My knight is in a raid guild but my warrior is in a small guild that can't raid yet I use general chat with my warrior to get groups set up for SM ops, I have made a lot of friends for raiding this way and now I can get ops groups rather quickly because they are people I know If you want to do the OPs you need to socialize a bit don't rely on group finder Group finder is fine for hm flashpoints because they are quick and easy, ops take a long time and you got to know who you are running with In short ht up general chat and meet new people or just settle for the pug flashpoints

If your guild is running nightmare mode and doing nothing to help new players gear up, that's a pretty selfish guild. That is not the norm, most people will start new ops teams and help level and or gear up new teams Time to find a better guild

I know everyone is saying this is a bad guild and that might be a bit unfair to the guild. What is clear is that this is not the guild for YOU. "Good" guilds are not one size fits all. Just because it's a good fit for someone else doesn't mean you'll be happy there. Find a guild that's running content that you are geared enough to do. I think you'll be much happier there.

Sounds like you joined a hardcore raiding guild that is only interested in doing the toughest hardest content and nothing more. I suggest you quit and find a casual social guild (one that also raids) you'll find them much more helpful in getting you geared up. In my experience (which i admit is fairly limited) most Hardcore guilds are full of egotistical jerks and A***holes who wouldn't know what the words social and helpful meant without looking them up in a dictionary Oh and bad PUGS will always be an unsolvable problem in MMOs, sure you could introduce a gear check tot he GF, but how do you incorporate a skill check, crap players will always be crap even in good gear. annabethchase Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 I will say that Story Mode Operations need to be much easier. To me a story mode should require no instructions on boss mechanics and should take almost exactly 1 hour no matter the gear level of a group. If they find that more than 50% of pugged groups are wiping on a boss it should be made easier. I'd say a pug should be in the worst 1% of all pugs to not complete a SM in 1.5 hours. Then Hard Mode and Nightmare mode should be exactly what they sound like. Hard mode a good challenge for most guilds using a mix of their entire roster of 169 geared players. Nightmare mode should be so hard at the end that no guild could possibly beat last 2 bosses until they've farmed up some gear from earlier bosses.
Andryah Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 Get in a good raid guild or stop whining about not getting into good pick up groups for raids. One of the rare times I agree with Darh-Malice.

Storymodes are that easy.... People really want to just be able to stand still and and hit buttons while targeting a boss while they eat dinner or what? What's the point?
LordArtemis Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 Hardcore players do not belong in PUGs. If you are choosing to run in PUGs then you accept you are somewhere you do not belong and suffer the consequences IMO. HM, Ops and Premades are the exclusive domain of hardcore players. SM and PUGs belong to casuals. Knowing your place in the game will help avoid frustrations.
