Smuggler or Shadow for stealth melee DPS?

I love my sin (shadow mirror). Excellent 1v1 node guard. Lots of tools to lock them down and slay while help comes. (pretty much my job as a sin to stealth guard nodes, I accept it as its my role at the moment). I also love watching a fight from stealth and taking away the joy of someone who thinks they are gonna blow my teammate up when I maul that *** for 8k or better then shock and discharge if needed.

I don't have a high enough level op to compare, waiting for the next double xp weekend for that.

Both classes' initial burst stack up pretty well to each other, but scoundrel is totally useless while out of stealth if you are planning on going into the scrapper spec, the only good thing is that you can stunlock kill people with Flechette Round > Shoot First > Sucker Punch > Dirty Kick > Sabotage Charge > Flechette Round > Blaster Whip > Sucker Punch > Backblast.

Can't speak 100% for either, but I prefer my Op to my Shadow. Energy management is waaaay easier. Seems like I'm constantly out of Force Power, and it's probably me, but I kick *** on my Concealment. However I do know from reading these forums that Shadow/Sins trump Scouperatives just slightly.

If you actually don't want to be limited to sitting on a node then go Scoundrel for Dirty Fighting. It's kinda underrated in PvP right now which makes it even greater because people don't expect the backend burst and die. People will try to tell you it's fluff damage but it isn't. You live longer then a Scrapper and have more control of your positioning which means you'll have greater DPS output. Dirty Fighting parses higher then Scrapper; it can deal more single target damage. Once you apply your two DoTs to your target(s) there essentially isn't any ramp up time for your damage. Sometimes you can chain 4 Wounding Shots within 4 GCD. It is about 2k-4k Internal damage that cannot be mitigated by armor as well as another 2k-4.4k Ranged damage per Wounding Shots (If both DoTs are present.)

You can still win any 1v1 unless you fight an Infiltration Shadow.

Infiltration Shadow has a higher burst potential then Scrapper and much more Survivability. Scoundrel defense comes from it's mobility which can take a while to master and even then it can be shut down by any class with a snare/root. A good Scoundrel needs to learn how to LoS and use cover if he wants to survive. You will get absolutely stomped if you try to charge into the fray as a Scoundrel. As a Scrapper you will need to get in and get out of combat as much as possible unless you are Dirty Fighting, which can fight at varying combat ranges.

I have both and I like Scoundrel better because of it's mobility. I also enjoy playing underdog classes, like my Vanguard DPS, heh.

I actually have both. I have to admit I do have more fun with my Scoundrel thanks to the CC. Both classes need to be played correctly - in other words, watching your health bar and using your escape to avoid death. Sin is better out of stealth, but if you keep your tactical advantage up(Scoundrel), your punches can deliver knock out blows.

If I was you, roll a Sin just to start racking up rest xp and when you are bored, start grinding it. In lower level pvp, the Sin rocks simply because it gets its most deadly attack(Maul) pretty early on - so backstabbing is your friend.
