Turtletoad Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Do people care about the defender/attacker points? I only see people talking about DPS. Aren't objectives more important?
EzioMessi Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Not to the average person no. You can see it from the average MVP votes as well. The highest DPS and the highest heals almost definitely have 3 votes each, while the highest objective points will have one or two. Objectives are what win the warzones, so even if you don't have Votes, enjoy the fact that you won.

You need to be able to clear nodes and doors and you cant do that if your team is lacking in any of those categories. Only map you don't need those is huttball, you can literally put out 0 damage/heals/protection and win.
Clifffeh Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 It is an imperfect system. How do you quantify the efforts of those who respond to inc calls? It won't be shown through objective points.
dufox Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 if you truly deserve the MVP you will usually get a few. objectives & objective points are 2 different things. defender points defender who calls incs while sitting in stealth outside of the zone (which most shadows will do after they realize a stealth will search for you and knock you out of stealth if your "close" to the objective. killing the ball carrier controlling mid / getting ahead of the guardian with the ball so he can leap to you. high objective points are good and all but are just as inaccurate as top dps /heals /protection
Arunas Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Most of objective plays are not recognized by the game and not reflected by stats - like timely CC when capping objectives. Also it is more efficient for assassins/shadows with phase walk to guard far away from the turret that they get no objective points.
TUXs Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 I don't join a WZ queue to guard. Of course objectives are important, I understand their importance, but I freaking hate that the most important job, in all but 1 WZ, is to do NOTHING. I'll guard when needed because winning means doing everything/anything you can...but I HATE doing dick in a WZ because I'm guarding.

No more do I have to defend only to get *****ed at when the node gets taken because they did not respond to my incoming calls for help.

Someone here once suggested that you focus target the guy guarding...I loved that suggestion and have been trying to use it since. That way, I can make the call as quick as he can.
BigDumbViking Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Depends on the type of warzone and what the player does to get the objective points... Many of the objective points come down to who of 3-4 people clicks an objective first. A well timed stun, heal, or intercede is far more valuable to the team on average. Depending on the outcome of the game and the type of match it was, my MVP vote will go to either the protection leader, DPS leader, Objective leader, or even someone who I saw do something spectacular like solo ninja a node.

I know I keep crying for a WSG but srsly, what's wrong with that? there are 3 problems with hb, and they are easily fixable on new maps: glitching on leaps and platforms in general - that's map design/ramps. elevation changes are fine, but use a map with more standard/natural terrain. problem solved. glitching won't be anymore a problem here than anywhere else in game.spam click turns into macros and autoclick for ball at mid point respawn. solution: get rid of respawn competition. 2 "flags/balls." OMG! that's just another WSG! yeah. so? we're talking about one WZ, not 3 clones (NC, CW, AHG).class balance: changing the map to something that more resembles "natural" terrain and a center spawn will also negate the NECESSITY of a guardian to carry and a sniper to entrench to pick up the ball. stealth will be good for something other than intercede.
