I am wondering if the gaming pads are worthwhile? I am left handed and have a tough time with the keyboard. I end up playing right handed to make it easier. Anyone using them and will give me some feed back about it.

Thanks

I use the Razer Nostromo, and Razer Naga(6 thumb buttons, not 12).

For the Nostromo, which has a joystick that I use for movement, and the thumb button, as a shift button for chord keys, but all the keys on it are programmable.

And my Razer Naga mouse I have programmed for the numpad buttons 1 - 6.

I honestly only use my keyboard for chatting, and pulling up in game menus like the map, character sheet, etc.

So I like them, and don't have any issues.

I use the Logitech G13 Gamepad more than half a year now (current Nightmare Raids and stuff, nót just fooling around) and theres no way i'm going back to the keyboard. I'm righthanded though so my experience may be different since i use a logitech G700 gaming mouse as well.

The manufacturing Quality of the G13 is very high, its much better than the gaming mouses Logitech builds to be honest. No isses with keys wearing out or something of the sort.

If you are wondering, i had no problems at all to get the gamepad working with SWTOR. The programming software Logitech provides is very straightforward (better than Razors i guess) and the game accept everything you put into the G13 without any issues. You can do pretty much everything you can think of with it and much more than the ToS allows you to. Which can be kind of frustrating.

If you have a specific question ask away.

Thanks to all who replied! It appears that the g13 is a better gaming pad to use that the Razer. ( I wish they would make left handed one for those us who are. ) :D Edited by Glennahansen

I have an old Belkin N52 somewhere around here. I never really got use to it. Plus my N52 had Bugs-O-Plenty. :D

I am sure new Game Pads are a lot better than that old thing. They have to at least be more comfortable and more effective with less bugs. :p

The Razer Nostomo stuff has much worse programming software then the original Belkin Nostromo. I couldn't play without my N50, and Razer mouse anymore. Everything is in easy to reach spots at either hand, and the thumb pad for movement makes things like strafing so much easier.

The latest Razer Naga(2014) edition comes in both left handed and right handed flavors. The company even says that they decided to make a left handed version at a loss, just because they know how frustrating it can be to be a left handed player.

I'm not left handed myself, but I can sympathize.

I have the new Naga and the new, raised mechanical side buttons are great. I also use an Orbweaver. I don't think they make a left handed version of that one(yet?). They are a great combination though.

best gaming investment I have bought is the razer orbweaver to realy get use to it I would recommend starting a new character they way you will get use to it as you lvl as it takes a good week or 2 to really get comfortable with it after that you feel naked not using one;)

I would recommend the Naga for anyone as well. Great mouse with some extra buttons that are handy for anything you can imagine.

Now I can speak from personal experience for the Nostromo as well, and I have nothing but good stuff to say about it. Phenomenal piece of hardware and definitely worth every single penny. The only reason I have given up using it is in lieu of getting myself an Orbweaver, the next step up. Only reason to take a Nostromo over an Orbweaver now is the price difference. In fact, they just came out with the Tartarus(sp) the other day which is basically an Orbweaver without the extra row of keys up top, so its more like a Nostromo. I presume its going to be in the middle price-wise as well, but I haven't checked.

Having a moddable UI is nice too so you can map your hotbars to look like the key layout on your gamepad, which I have done purely out of personal preference.

Can't go wrong with a Razer keyboard either. I picked myself up a Black Widow to compliment the Orbweaver and haven't looked back since.
