Feeling the need to brush up on your tanking skills? Leveled a tank alt during a Double XP weekend and still have no clue what you're doing? Feel like hobnobbing with some of the best tanks on the server? Well, we have just the thing!

 

<Aisthesis> is hosting a PvE tanking clinic this Saturday (8/17) at 9pm Eastern Time. We will be going through a number of tanking fundamentals with practical examples and a lot of hands-on time! We'll be primarily using world bosses/champions and trash in the open world for accessibility reasons, but we may split into smaller groups and dip into instances (the Section X heroic instance is very tempting). Class-specific advice and training will also be a part of the workshop, but the majority of the content will be focused on general tanking.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Level 55
  • Republic faction (sorry!)
  • Mumble
  • Good attitude!

 

Note that you do not have to be a tank to attend! We will also need some high-parsing DPS to rain holy fire of agro-rippage on tanks as they practice. Additionally, we will need one or two healers to mend wounds while we play around with bosses. I will personally most likely be attending on my sentinel, but my healer and tank will be around as necessary.

 

Also note that if you're Imperial faction and you really want to participate, you can feel free to hop in our Mumble and tag along with the group, but we won't really have any meaningful way of including you in the hands-on exercises.

 

Door prize is to solo tank Nightmare Jarg and Sorno against a group of DPS all parsing over 3k! (just kidding; though if you really think that would be fun, we could do it afterwards)

 

Come join the party, have fun and maybe even pick up a few tricks as we attempt to raise the level of tanking in our guild and on the server. We will all be in the same ops group, so we have a hard participant limit of 24 (I doubt we'll get that high, but you never know). Invites will be sent out by <Aisthesis> members and the group will be open to anyone who wants to /join. Mumble will be required as I will absolutely not type everything into /ops chat. You will also probably want to have some credits on hand for repair bills, since we will be using /stuck to ensure that we don't trigger world boss respawn timers. Attendance is entirely free of charge!

Wow! This sounds like a great idea! Would it be possible to reserve a few spots in this group for members of my guild?

 

Sure! As long as everyone is willing to have fun and learn, they're certainly welcome! As for reservations, I really don't think we're going to run into the 24 man limit, but if we do, I'll remember that you spoke up first. :-)

This sounds like a really fun idea! I definitely wouldn't consider myself a "new" tank since I've been tanking on my main since release but always fun to see what others have to contribute to making ones self better. Sadly I might be working so I can't commit for sure but would you take people on day of if there are slots?

 

I have a 55 Sawbones I'd be happy to heal on as well if that was a greater need.

I have a 55 Sawbones I'd be happy to heal on as well if that was a greater need.

 

We'll probably be ok on healing, so you should feel free to come on your tank. <Aisthesis> is basically alt-city, so we can always shuffle things a bit and have a geared healer.
