Removing RWZs: It's the gentlest slap in the face you could have gotten.

The far bigger slap would have been to have left it in, watch it die, and let anyone who only subscribes for that experience continue to pay them for another few months.

Admitting they had failed - and admitting they had failed because of their own lack of support for them - and saying straight up that they were removing them? Bioware gently stroked you on the cheek while wearing a velvet glove. It's still uncomfortable, but way better than the alternative.

...And what is the horrid alternative? To not remove them?

I don't give a flying dutchman about your disguised dev butt licking, you are not getting a medal for this. People are voicing their opinion and you sir are on the minority on this.

The community is speaking out, why cant you both? Rediculous, just because you dont like rwz doesnt mean that they shouldnt exist.

Look lets look at the reasons rwz participation is low:

1) release in 1.2, a release that was delayed which directly resulted in 400k loss of subscriptions.

2) no resources allocated to them by the devs. There have been no improvements, no anything related to ranked, by devs own admission.

3) lack of content added to them. see #2

4) they have existed since 1.2 in preseason form, multiple tiers have passed but the devs cant reset/start seasons? thats just laziness

5) more recently, the announcement of 2.4 being the PvP. alot of pvpers unsubbed at that point, saying why pay for this till show us love with content in october, they are just waiting for 2.4 to come to resub.

6) no cross server ranked ques, the engine cant handle it, and EA is at fault for this.

7) the implementation of server transfer after the announcement of the 2.4 PvP patch, in which a huge amount of subs either quit or went to preferred status. This is huge. Had they implemented server transfer prior to the announcement, ranked wzs would have been going fairly strong. But since they did this backwards, what you had was a loss on all servers for all pvp THEN AFTER an influx of pvpers to certain servers bringing the pvp population on those servers close to pre "the announcement" (thank you lebron james)

As for arena, implement them. TDM is good. But dont say you that is REAL PVP and objective based is not.

Lets say you go to an opposing faction base with your friends to gank. What are you doing? You have to fight npcs, manage them so you dont, group up to go in at the sametime versus not going in one at a time for suicide. Your OBJECTIVE is to get more 55's of the opposing faction to come and compete. Then when they do is that TDM? no you still have npcs respawning. Not to mention that when you get outnumbered, you eventually have to fall back and hopefully find a choke point so they funnel in and you can eliminate their numbers. My point being here is that OWPVP is closer to objective based PvP than TDM PvP. And if you dont like OWPVP well your just not a PvPer period.
