Greetings,

After playing the game for a little over a year now, I have been seriously considering upgrading my computer to run the game better. While my current set-up runs the game just fine, I have become somewhat of a performance fanatic ever since I built my first computer. Here are my specs: AMD FX- 4100 Quad-Core Processor 3.60 GHz, 8.00 GB DDR3 RAM, Sapphire Radeon HD 6850. My question is this; should I simply upgrade the GPU, or would I have to possibly upgrade the CPU as well in order to see any kind of significant performance increase? I currently run the game on high settings at an average of around 40 fps; however, it can get as low as 20 fps in higher populated areas ( and on Alderaan for some reason) . Any feedback on this topic would be greatly appreciated! :)

Yours truly,

With that setup I would start off with the GPU first. Your CPU is more than enough for the game. A better GPU would help a bit. But that is just me.

Yet if you wanted to you could get a better CPU first. It all really depends on the direction you feel you want to go. I run the game with an FX8150 and it does fine but I also run the game with a Core 2 Duo E6600 and what ever my Laptop has which is also a Cor 2 Duo of some kind, which has slipped my mind for some reason. I find that the game does alright with those CPU's but my GPU's on those systems are what limits me the most for this game.

In the end you should really get both a better CPU and GPU if you really want to upgrade. But I personally think a new GPU will suit you better for what you already have right now. You could wait a little bit before getting a new CPU. Some new CPU's will becoming out at the end of the year and the begging of the next year, around the 1st quarter of 2014. If I remember correctly that is.

Also if you go with a new CPU and decide on an Intel you will need to get a new Mobo as well. So that is something else to think about.
