Hey all,

I really would LOVE a sorc after playing and loving my Sage so much, so I have two questions.

1. Without spoilers, is the story more fitting for a Female or Male? I intend on going Zabrak if that helps.

2. What spec should I go into for levelling? On the Sage I went in Balance for PoM, then went into Telekenetics for mass AOE. Is this viable?

Thanks.

I don't see how race or gender plays any role in choosing a sorc other than personal preference. Other than the fact that I think the female is more snarky which is a little fun but the gameplay is exactly the same. If you want burst then you want the lightning tree and if you want sustained dps and a few more tools you want madness. Hybrid between the two is also very viable. Hope that helps a little.

Gender really doesn't matter too much, but if I had to guess, I would say that the story was written to slightly favor going female.

Reason being is that I would think Zash would REALLY prefer a female apprentice for reasons I won't spoil for you.

And companion affection. Ashara doesn't like any gifts if you're female.

It was written by a woman, and i've always felt it favors that perspective.

I think a female sorc was perfect for the story. As for race you start out as a slave (no spoiler, it's the very first cutsceen) so zabrak would probably fit perfectly. Aliens in the empire working their way up makes for a good underdog story.

Leveling I'd just stick the lightning tree to tear through mobs. As you reach max level you may want to diversify to hybrid.

Storyline I think could go either way but if you don't want to spend all your time leveling the affection (purp grade 5 repub memorabilia that she loves - at level - will grant about +60 affection it's really really bad as a female) then go with a male.

As for leveling I had no problem as a healer. Your first companion is a pretty good tanky type. Plus my understanding is that the dps and healing stats needed are pretty much the same between them so going heals is actually quite viable as a sorc and quite a bit of fun imo. Plus if you PVP you will be loved and queues for flashpoints will be quicker too.

Hope that helps and say 'Hi' to Harkun for me :p.

I think Zabrak is a great choice for inquisitor, with the red and black face with horns, also fitting the very beginning story of being a slave. I think female is probably better, the holonet thing about classes on this site shows a female inquisitor i think, and it would fit the sort of theme of being a slave starting from nothing who has to overcome all odds, since the Sith would probably prefer men.

Oh and for specs they're all pretty good, the 3 trees and hybrid lightning/madness (same as a sage telekinetics/balance). I kind of don't like Lightning though, it feels kind of clunky and hard to do. I prefer a 2/16/28 hybrid. If you're a subscriber and can respec for free, I'd say try them all and pick the one you like most.

Lightning parses highest and can actually kill things in short order, unlike Madness.

As for species, my Pureblood fits the class just fine. Any worries that you might have regarding story and species really aren't worth wasting time over. The only ones that could cause trouble are the traditionally non-Sith species, like Miraluka, Mirialan and Chiss, and that's only if you're a major lore nerd. Everything else is perfectly fine.

Funnily enough, I actually settled on Mirialan Male Sorc for mine.

I did this because the romance option seems great for males, and the story seems like it could fit either. I intend on rolling another as Female anyway. Plus Mirialan, usually a pious race, as a corrupted evil-doer appealed to me.

Thanks everyone for input :) I read every comment.
