Jacksyn
PVP patch. Not quite sure how to react. Your thoughts?
Huckdabuck
Complete and utter jubilation that I wasn't a PvP hardcore l33t that thought paying $20 to transfer to a PvP server would fix my ranked 8 man wz woes!
Zolkl
I'm not sure what to make of it yet. From other games I've played, direct damage ranged classes (Snipers/GS) have a real hard time in these small settings due to players using LOS effectively. I guess we'll just have to see how it pans out. I am looking forward to a new form of pvp though.
AIRCONGO
Much easier to get 4v4 going. Face it...not many people bothered queing ranked, especially APAC time.
mattjurado
I would be pissed off if I just paid $20 to transfer to get more ranked matches only to be told shortly after, that its going away... For the overwhelming majority of the server population arenas will be better than ranked 8v8 which was neglected for well over a year. Still, for pvp guilds that spent a lot of time coming together, practicing, and leveling entire characters to fill specific spots, why can't 8v8 remain for them? Back to my first point though, I think its absurd that BW took paid transfers and a LOT of pvpers paid money to go to more competitive servers, only to effectively say "Thanks for the money, btw you didn't have to because 8v8 is being scrapped." Don't think it will severely affect them, can see posts on their forums already organizing 4v4 scrims. I think it's for the better and will get more people queing Ranked as this server lacks that. mattjurado
Oh I think its for the better too! Now I can group with guildies to do dailies and ranked at the same time! And not have to worry about what 4 scrubs we'll get on the other side of the ops frame. Just stating I can see how this will frustrate quite a few people in PVP guilds, in particular those that paid money to transfer for more 8x8 pops... Bobcowww
Back to my first point though, I think its absurd that BW took paid transfers and a LOT of pvpers paid money to go to more competitive servers, only to effectively say "Thanks for the money, btw you didn't have to because 8v8 is being scrapped." The people that transferred to PvP servers didn't just move there for more regular ranked pops, they moved there for better competition. PvP servers will still be the way to go for anyone interested in Arenas. Edited August 15, 2013 by Bobcowww

There's an article out there on an MMO website (that I can't find at the moment) that discusses how arenas will likely bring to light class imbalance issues to a greater degree than anything has heretofore. i just can't see a Sorc/Sage or Sniper/Gunslinger being very competitive against the best. Operatives/Scoundrels, Juggs/Guardians and Maras/Sents will, in my opinion, be in huge demand. Everything else will not be.
iheartnyc
I think sage/sorc will be strong. If you've ever tried to 1v1 a Sorc in an area with lots of pillars, you know how hard it is to kill a good sage/sorc. But yes, sorry to all you gunslingers
Haystak
I actually expected them to roll out cross server ques for 2.4, which would of probably pissed off the paid xfers even more, i didnt expect them to scrap it. Im not sure what they gain from scrapping it. It was neglected though. No rewards, no titles, no benefits, just harder more refined pvp, which for the better part only certain classes could excel in. The end result being what you have now, a very small and limited playing crowd for rateds. am i sad for its removal no, as a dps scoundrel I dont lose anything, but i dont gain anything either. THe only real negative side for me, might be more losses to premades due to the more experienced groups not being able to play rateds, and a resurgance of the double premade ques. Sowwy
I think complete removal of the 8man ranked is overkill. It doesn't need to be a point of concern for the dev team, but since its already implemented they might as well let it remain as just another option for us to use. Having said as much, the entire 4m division is a good idea. Easier to balance and more appropriate to our population numbers. But like Airwolf said, I don't lose anything because of my favorite class/spec precludes me from legitimate efforts in 8man ranked. Bottom line, I dare say BW made a good call. Hard to believe I know and it only took them nearly 2 years - Jolly
