CommanderKeeva Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 (edited) The cryo grenade only works below 10%. There are lots of around the spawner and despite my begging against unsolicited and unwanted "help", some random guy always wants to help me kill my target, even if i explicitly state in /say that I want to take the target alive. I tried to take 4 targets alive but couldn't bring either of them because of the masses of people attacking each other's targets. People don't give a crap about who wants to take a bounty in alive, they just mindlessly attack everything. I foresee this being a huge issues and the event has just started. What planet is this on?
CommanderKeeva Posted August 14, 2013 Author Posted August 14, 2013 Happened to me on Ord Mantell, Coruscant and DK twice. It's a bad design, since other people can interfere with your bounty.
RogueScout Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 I took one alive on DK. Basically I had to throw up my saber reflect and stop ALL DPS. Had to call back my companion too. Its very precise - not the best method, but its Bioware after all, lol
CommanderKeeva Posted August 14, 2013 Author Posted August 14, 2013 It's not an issue of me killing the target. I can stop DPS just fine. It's an issue of other people not realizing you want to take the target alive and they kill it for you. When you have lots of people around one spawn node, they indiscriminately kill everything.
Jerba Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 I agree, there are some issues that were not noticeable on the PTS. For example, the henchmen are using AOE abilities, and if you are a level 20 standing next to a henchman called by a level 55 player, you are one-shotted. However, I am positively surprised that they fixed a lot of the issues reported on the PTR forums.
BenKatarn Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Handled 3 bounties thus far (Coruscant, Hutta, Dromund Kaas), took them all in alive with no issue.
Nagos Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 I don't post much, but I have to say, this is a really bad design. 50 ppl huddling around 1 guy. Once he spawns, bam every one kills him. Where is the hunting it that, where is the fun. They should have at least made them a separate instance like all the other group instances and others you can run.
CommanderKeeva Posted August 14, 2013 Author Posted August 14, 2013 Well, I tried higher level planets after the reset like Voss, Alderaan and Tatooine and managed to capture all targets alive there. They were a lot less crowded than starting and capital planets. It's not a perfect solution but it should be an adequate workaround for now.
RixoFutu Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Why it's static character? Make bounties actually like hunt. Give NPC speeder and let him drive around planet.
AlienEyeTX Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Why it's static character? Make bounties actually like hunt. Give NPC speeder and let him drive around planet. I do like this idea. Although, it might suck if you're getting close and someone else kills the target. Then the target spawns far away and you have to turn around to chase again... except someone else gets him first again!

There are always also other bounty hunters, are not? Only the fastest wins.
AlienEyeTX Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Well, that's the idea of hunt. There are always also other bounty hunters, are not? Only the fastest wins. But it's still nice to have a good chance to complete missions, too. If they did this, they'd need to boost the rep reward a bunch, otherwise it just wouldn't be worth the hassle.
Cyberwoman Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 I have yet had any problems like this, although it seems this is a system that can easily be abused. It would have been better if at 1 hp you had a short convo with the target, where they say 'dam you!' and you decide whether to kill or freeze them.

Or just do like every other time you make this decision in the game. At the end of the fight, bring up the conversation wheel and choose to capture or kill. Simple solution to a stupid problem. ***edit*** Which is basically what you just stated, I guess. Edited August 14, 2013 by AlienEyeTX

Yeah, but I think you put it better anyway.

This is actually a good suggestion. Takes some of the "risk" of killing the target out of the event, but it beats losing the kill to griefers.

Indubitably, not having done the event myself yet, I hope they make this type of change. Because like many others, I have been looking forward to this event for my bounty hunters. One of them is a take em alive type of hunter, so I would hate for him to have to always be killing his targets due to outside help

This would seem to make a lot of sense and is already found all over the story lines. This would also give groups the chance to get individual vote on ether they want credit for a kill or a capture.

Good suggestion, and consistent with how it is handled in many class and leveling missions in the game already. Please to put in the suggestion box.. and the rest of us can pile on it and give a +1. On the other hand... the current effect reminds me a lot about what would happen if you.. the bounty hunter... tried to take a bounty target in public on some dirtwater backwoods chuckwagon planet. I could see it now...... one of you pulls a weapon.....followed by the other..... and everyone else around you is expected to sit back, relax, not get all worked up or involved when blaster bolts or sabers start flying??? I think not. Much more likely everyone piles on like a good old fashioned clusterfest. Think ----> Mother of all bar fights. Edited August 14, 2013 by Andryah

One of them is a take em alive type of hunter, so I would hate for him to have to always be killing his targets due to outside help Another suggestion someone had was a "shield" type effect that would delay the killing - lots of NPCs already have this ability, as well as Force Barrier...just some type of effect that could slow the kill.

I had a simular thought, but mine was more like this. *BH 2 shows up just as BH 1 is capturing the target.* BH 1: "Well, well, well, there's the blister, showing up after all the work is done. You snooze you loose my friend." *BH 2 shoots the target in the head* BH 2: "Enjoy your bonus for bringing him in alive." *BH 1 BH 2* Edited August 14, 2013 by Arlon_Nabarlly
MadHobbit Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 well this is just like the 1st day of the tauntauns, or when they added the achivments for PVP in the gree event, hopefully this will slow down, the same people who rush to get all they can on the first day will be the first to complain that the event is too short/boring/unfun.
