Bluntis Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Has anyone else noticed a slight increase in latency on the server lately? I usually run at around 40ms but for the past 2 weeks or so I've been running at around 120 as if I was playing on a west coast server. I speed tested my net and it's running at normal speed (40ms), and I went back to my origin server (JC) and I was running at the normal 40 ms. Let me know if you are having similar issues

EnzoForMe Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 (edited) I made a thread both in this forum and in customer service a couple weeks ago about increased latency and disconnects in rated matches. Despite having 10 or so people posting with me from Legend/ Hex and over 500 views BW never responded even though all the other threads on the page had a response. But yes you are not alone and it's not a userside issue. My favorite instance was when 16 people dc'd upon hitting the enter (ranked) warzone button. Edited August 13, 2013 by EnzoForMe
iReboot Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 I have noticed a higher than average latency. I am usually around 20ms but lately I have spiked up to 300.

I tried to put a ticket in about it asking if there was any way I could resolve it but I was pretty much told kindly to f*** off by the automated response system. I just hope they can fix it before arenas come.
OldSpiceSwag Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 ive been dcing kind of frequently for the past 2 weeks, but im still not sure if its on my end or their end. mostly only happens in wzs but not exclusively
Jaiyne Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 I have been getting massive lag spikes the last several weeks. Makes PvP unplayable when it's happening, for me at least. We did also recently have multiple simultaneous DCs in a rated where I think all but a few of us DC'd at one time.
supermouthcml Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Same here. normally run around 37-38 ms, seems like since 2.3 hit lag has gone up a noticeable amount.
OldSpiceSwag Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 have people been noticing if this lags out their whole connection too? because sometimes i disconnect or get the red x and then my browser wont load until i reconnect. i have no experience in computers or networking so is it possible that the swtor dc is disconnecting me from my network or is it definitely on my end?

MirakTarkon Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 I play on the Harbinger and I never have lag but lately yesterday and today I have been hovering between 800-1400 ms lag, which is horrendous. I checked my internet and its fine. I can't even do any ops right now because the lag is just too much to deal with.

NadirPalo Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Thankfully, no (additional) issues coming from the west coast. Welcome to the 100+ club, ladies and gents! Glad to have you. *leans back, kicks up feet, and lights a cigar* FWIW, I don't think general lag increase and the RWZ disconnect thing are related. The RWZ disconnect problem is lame as f**k and its disheartening that BW ignored it :/

Laforet Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Mugem is too fat whenever hes on the server gets heavy.

That sounds like something on your end, but I could be wrong. Like I said my connection seems to be normal when I have these spikes / increases in server lag. From the sound of things there are two different issues: increase in latency and straight up disconnects. I haven't really experienced the latter but hopefully Bioware can figure them both out before arenas (crossing my fingers).
NadirPalo Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 I just hope this doesn't carry on into arena... I feel like its been *almost* excuseable up to this point because even though it effs up the ratings of both teams involved, rating has nothing attached to it right now anyway so there's nothing to lose. But with an actual season starting and rewards tied to rating, plus how the effects of 1 or more disconnects are exacerbated in such a small format, a bug like this persisting is completely unacceptable. They know its happening, and its obviously not client-side (at least when a whole team drops). I can only hope they've rewritten the code behind the queue enough to eliminate whatever nonsense causes the simultaneous disconnects. If not, we'll have to make more of a fuss so they can't continue to ignore the problem. Dang, that became a rant. I'll see myself out.
Dedrayge Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Yea, I've been experiencing a lot of lag lately too. Normally I'm at 27 to 30 ms but lately, it feels like I'm at a 100+ ms. Haven't really looked at it. Last night in a VS it looked as if people where just warping around. I've never had the game lag that bad in a WZ and I've upgraded my mother board, ram, and processor since I started playing this game. My internet seems to be just fine. But lately, WZ having been lagging a lot more than usual. I'm actually getting hit with lag outside of WZs as well. For example; Today I was questing on Makeb and was getting hit with some bad lag spikes even though there was no other players around or much of anything happening. Haven't been disconnected yet, just bad lag. Actually, I do recall a thread a few months ago in regards to people having really bad lag which was happening on multiple servers. I really do think the problem is on BW's end and seriously needs a fix. I just hope this doesn't carry on into arena... I think I remember them stating that they will also be giving the game a performance upgrade with 2.4,
Panic_Prone Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 blunti can u guess what im going to type? **** blunti **** that dude
Broward Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Yeah Blunti, I have had the same recently. Always around 30-40ms on JC, while Pot5 is always 60-120ms for some reason.
