XEEVA Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 I really hope they upgrade the hamster running our server, or at least give it better fuel (speed\Isotope-9 etc) Server performance and overall stability has been shocking for the past few months and we now get more pop transferred over tonight.

Anyone who was basically playing on any of APAC servers have already been on US servers for months through the free char transfer they set up specifically for APAC players. This consolidation is all about most likely transferring any inactive characters and guilds that people had on those servers and did not transfer them.

And for those that do not know anything about IT - Inactive\Active players coming across, mean data being inserted into the DB used by the Harbringer instance. More data within a DB means more Memory usage on the host. This causes the Hamster to forget **** because it has limited memory (being a hamster and all) therefore causing lag and other issues

So this would explain why we have lots of issues. But I doubt Bioware would do such a thing, maybe store memory for other things but I would not suggest user information. Thats would be nuts, and requires like 1 Terabyte+ of Phyiscal memory (pretty sure it would store other stuff there besides user login [if they would do so]). What I find odd is that they dont have any centralised DB for alll characters like they would with login details so that we can go to ANY server. I don't get why these DBs are specific on each server personally but I digress I dont know how they create this game. Edited August 13, 2013 by Zhaker
