Last_Hearth Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Say you have a modded chest piece, now you want to wear another piece of gear for the look, but you don't want to pay the price of pull out all the mods, not to mention maybe having to put another augment slot in it. And what if you just wanted to wear it for a special occasion and is going to switch back the next day? Here is a solution. You can take any chest piece (orange modded or static piece), and through the mod station turn it into a piece with all the stats of another piece you're copying from (say your current chest piece with level 72 mods and an augment) , the copied piece would retain the original appearance but will now be a static piece with 1 credit vendor value and is BOP). Now you can equip this static piece with no loss of stats and change your appearance, Yes, the cost of the coping would involve a fee that is based on the stats of the piece being covered. This would encourage people to try out new appearances more frequently. In fact I could make 4 or 5 full sets of armor copies all with different appearances but all with the same stats as my primary armor set, but now I can change my appearance from one look to another quickly and easily without having to pull out and socket mods from all the pieces.

I am sorry you don't want to pay for it.. But that is the realities of the game.. You want to move stuff over, then you have to pay.. To me any work around to this is a bad idea.. Anyone can do some dailies or sell some stuff on the GTN to make some money.. There is no reason someone shouldn't have the money.. Sorry.. I just can't support your idea.. I like the idea of modding our gear, and paying to move the mods around.. It used to cost a lot more..

I agree with you. Just seems like a QoL feature that isnt really needed. I have, at the moment, 3 chest pieces dyed and MK-9 augmented. When I want change the look I swap my mods. Same with my lightsabre I have 5 of them w/ MK-9 Augs. Including 2 Volatile Conqueror's Saberstaff''s 1 for PvP and another for PvE. I get mod swapping sucks at high levels as it can get spendy which limits the swapping of gear but really when you have played awhile after the gears augmented its not terrible in cost as long as you dont swap daily. Now an appearance function wouldn't be a bad idea but again I think there are much more important things to focus on and this acts as a credit sink which they intended. We could just ask them to lower the cost of mod swapping and that solves the issue as well.
Phinion Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Or they can simply put in a cosmetic tab so you can change your look on the fly without changing your stats which are locked to the gear you actually have equipped. But, as others have said, the removing of mods is a credit sink and would need to be replaced with a different credit sink as people would simply wear whatever they found with the best stats and then just have the cosmetic tab active the entire time. So they would have to be able to remove the credits from somewhere else.
