Would treek be good for leveling an Operative?

Treek would be awesome for anyone. She's either a tank than has some healing, or a healer that can tank a little. It's win/win. I use her as a healer on my guardian tank, and as a tank with my marauder dps. She's fantastic, and quite funny as well. Last night while knocking out my Makeb weekly she yelled at an elite battle droid, "You are big, and stupid!" before throwing an explosive melon-thingee at it.

Actually, the Imperial Agent was one of the main reasons why I got Treek.

Kailyo starts to get a bit more difficult to keep on her feet as your tank no matter how well you gear her around the end of Balmorra but the problem is that you don't get your next companion (Vector) until the end of Alderaan.

Making matters worse is that I have just never been able to get Lokin (supposedly your healer) working for me properly making me think that something in his combat AI's slightly off. So, yeah, any IA could use either Treek or HK imo. :)

That's interesting. I'm still using Kaliyo at level 40 and haven't experienced any problems with her at all. She keeps the heat off me so well my agent hardly ever takes any damage.

Probably a difference in playstyles, AC's or a bug I'm thinking because, as a crafter, I always have me and my companion in prototype (blue) for their level mods, armor and enhancements from head to toe from level 9 and switch over to the artifact leveled gear come 50. Oddly enough, I've had great luck with Vector though but he comes so darned late that it really doesn't help much for those planets before hand.

Generally, Kailyo takes her first dive for me somewhere around Nar Shaddaa and by Alderaan, she's face-planting almost every fight.

Then again, I treat her like the tank she's supposed to be too. I send her in first to draw threat and start DPSing (I've only played snipers so far). Now, as to why Vector would stay standing whereas Kailyo in the same level of gear won't, I've always assumed that's because Vector's melee DPS so he does more damage which drops the bad guys faster meaning he takes less damage himself as a result.

I also imagine that an Operative, with healing capabilities regardless of what spec their running, can also help with keeping their given tank, Kailyo up and running for longer.

But, in general, usually preferring healers as opposed to anything else (just haven't gotten around to operatives yet), I've noticed that the tanking companions tend to lose their effectiveness over time period- meaning that for some reason, when you first get a tank, you barely need to touch them but after about 10-15 levels you're having to spam your heals almost constantly to keep them up and running. I've always thought that was to encourage you to try other companions out as you level up.

Now, granted, I could be wrong and there are variations but, that's my general experience at any rate.

Treek really is great for anyone. Even in heal stance (so her attacks don't generate extra threat like in tank stance) she'll out dps any other healer companion in game, and she has some great heals, especially for me, as i'm a spiky sin-tank. And healers seem to lover her as a tank, because all her attacks generate extra threat (only in tank stance), her 1 aoe won't hit cc'd mobs, and she has a couple heals to keep herself going as well, making it easier on the healer. Also, as a healer, she has higher survivability than the others because she's in heavy armor.

The only downside, is that she has no taunt, but with her tank stance generating double threat, which is of course standard, and then her attacks while in her tank stance generating extra threat, agro isn't a big issue for her.

The only people who don't find her useful are those that run around with other dps companions, whether for the challenge, faster kills, or romancing. Because yes, dps companions will and do still out dps her.

X'ekra Stance

Rank 55

Instant

Cooldown: 1.5s

Treek enters a protective combat stance, increasing threat generation by 100%, shield chance by 20% and taunting enemies when necessary and possible.

It's implented with her abilities, just watch her when you use her and you'll see a taunt debuff once in a while.

To the OP: Treek is an overall pretty impressive character, I'd highly recommend her. Especially on an operative dps, in usual situations you can bring her out as tank (so you can easily backstab) and in tough fights just swap her to healer. It's not until later levels secondary stats make all the difference. If you level as a healer a DPS companion can be preferred, downside is you don't get them until end Alderaan/end Hoth.

The default companions will get the job done aswell, I personally find Kaliyo sufficient, but Treek lasts a bit longer.

was just about to post that

And she is great about pulling a mob off you . I solo BT at 12 with her , and I don't take a lot of damage either . Just keep her alive and dps between
