Well Hello Again Ebon Hawk

So you may have noticed I transferred my main back to Ebon Hawk. After spending about a week or Solo Queuing on Pot5, I came to some hard realizations

TLDR:

1. Epeen Size realization

2. Community

3. Personal well being.

The first thing to strike me was that I would need to abstain from all recreational inhibreation to be competitive. For those of you who know me, that’s a deal breaker. Theres no guarantee I could be on par with their ranked teams anyway, I’m not half as good a sorc as I thought.

The next thing to become clearly evident was the complete shift in community morale. It seems there is an epidemic of QQ, trolls, and quitters there. (I was called out for this last night, I would like to address like to address this shortly.) Every losing WZ I was in, had no fewer than 2 quitters. Then someone joins and promptly quits again. Those who stay, do so only to QQ and grief the people they feel responsible for their loss. Im making a generalization here, and I know there are exceptions, but it was all too often for my taste.

The QQ and general Dbaggery on Pot5 makes me insane. I seriously don’t have enough self control to allow someone to talk all kinds of **** without becoming emotionally involved. Is that a personal short coming… You bet your ***. Which brings me back to what I touched briefly on in Paragraph 2.

Last night I was called out for quitting; I believe the comment was something like “good to know Pax quits”, to which I responded with a resounding GO **** YOURSELF. Was that an appropriate reaction and an example of the Pax code of conduct.. NO.. ,, So Rox (something with an ‘ in it). Theres my admission that I had an ******e moment.

In all fairness though, it was 2am, in Lowbies on Double XP weekend. I had been drinking and smoking all day and was going on hour 6 of consecutive WZs. Our group had gotten Double capped twice, and I mentally checked out. I was watching a replay of Anderson Silva get KTFO’d, I got distracted and we got capped on. You decided to send me a whisper that I half read, only hearing you QQ. If you thought I would respond with anything other than GO **** YOURSELF, boy were you surprised

I am thoroughly grateful for the opportunity to roll with Guerrilla, and I appreciate all the insight I picked up from them. Although Pax has and always will be my home. I have become close with several members outside of TOR and it was difficult to leave that for my own selfish reasons in the first place.

It's great to have you back, Mort!

I too have transferred a toon (my other Merc) to POT5 but I am incredibly reluctant to play it, even though many of my friends have gone there. I hope the dust will settle a little bit and more people will return to TEH.

Sad to see you leave Pot5...never got a chance to play with you over there. Sorry you had such a bad experience, I've been loving playing my PT over there. Maybe it's because I solo queue more than you and doing so on this server is an extreme measure of patience. At least over there I rarely get people on my team with zero clue. Last time I logged in I went 5-0 with a couple solo queues and three queuing with Ares...that NEVER happens to me on this server. The talent level here has just become so low that a 4 man group on one side or the other almost always means they'll win.

Is the rest of Guerilla coming back? Were they not able to get a ranked team rolling over there? Honestly, I hope they aren't all coming back because any lopsidedness from before would be greatly magnified now that so much talent has migrated. I'm already seeing games on the pub side that are worse than before transfers. People node sitting earlier than ever, 4 or 5 teammates not even breaking 100k dps or heals...how is that even possible? I love playing my toons on this server and don't wanna spend money transferring more, but I just have so many more fun and competitive games over there.

Keep in mind that the transfers happened at the same time as 3 consecutive Double XP weekends. There are a lot of new 55s out there, many of whom did not PvP much while leveling. I know my new Guardian is all kinds of noob...I can't ever seem to find the scamper button.

Also, WB Mort. Looking forward to running away from you.

Hopefully that's part of it. It's bad when my shadow has the most damage, protection and healing in a game...that actually happened once this weekend

I did pick my Sin back up and finished her off to 55. Apologies in advance for being terribad, at least for the next few weeks.

You know, I went back and forth on posting this...I like you, I'm glad to have you back on the server. But..there's always a but..I can't get over the fact that it took you less than two weeks of a situation similar to what a bunch of us solo-queuers here went through for months to come back. You gave a lot of people here a hard time leading up to your transfer about not wanting to better ourselves and taking the 'path of least resistance' or 'continue the status quo'. I can't help but see that is exactly what you did here. You found Pot5 too difficult and frustrating and came back to where you're a big fish.

Again, glad to have you back, but I had to get that little bit off my chest.

oh cool im a big fish..

Your right. That's exactly what I did. That's why I wrote a post outlining it and making a public admission. Wouldn't the world be much better off if everyone could publically admit they were wrong and asked their community for understanding and forgiveness.

Not to be a total dick to Mort or anything (<3 Mort), but all you had to do was read this line, ML. :p

To be honest, knowing this about you, Mort, I was rather surprised that you transferred to Pot5 at all. xD You're way too chill for the bloodcrazed personality of a PvP server.

Yea, I suppose I had to go experience it and learn for myself. Wouldn't be the fist time I knowingly stepped in a big pile of **** only to be surprised that it stank and wouldn't wash right off.

I guess I didn't get the take away of asking for forgiveness and understanding. I thought it was cool that you made the post, and that's why I hesitated saying anything...but I didn't get that you were requesting any understanding or forgiveness. Maybe my reading compression is low :p

Anyways, like I said, I'm glad to have you back and hopefully you can continue past efforts to foster pvp around here.

your reading comprehension is just fine. Maybe I didn't make it clear enough.

I made this post as a way of explaining myself and asking for understanding. No one could have convinced me the transfer was not in my best interest, I had to experience it for myself. Perhaps my emotional IQ is a bit low for Pot5, but its high enough to know Id rather be out in the open about things then quietly slip in the back.

Meh, i transfered my juggernaut to POT5 and it's just a big cluster**** of 12 and 13 year old kids trying to be "awsome". Skill wise i have no problem fitting in on pot5, the community is garbage though, thus is why i may bring my juggernaut back to TEH unless something changers my mind between now and when i get 20 extra $'s.

P.S. Welcome back mort, i look foreward to killing you <3 - Mustaine/Curama.

Pot5 isn't for everyone. There are a lot more skilled premades over there ie I AM LEGEND, HOTH SKI PATROL, PK'ers, Bloodline, Lethal Dose 50, it's not the same as ebon hawk where there was 1 guild dominating. The top tier talent on pot5 is spread over several guilds on Pot5 and not concentrated in one megaguild. I think PVP on Ebon Hawk is more balanced now. It's definitely easier now than it was pre transfer. As I said before, with the server transfers there's something for everyone. Those who wanted to test their skills against the very best got what they wanted, and those who wanted to have a more casual pvp experience got what they wanted to. Everyone's a winner.

Welcome back Mort, I grew up on PvP servers playing on them since Everquest 2. I know the mentality, and childishness that goes on there. When I transferred to Wyrmwrest Accord on World of Warcraft, and found the awesome RP community there to be inviting and cheerful to be around I decided to role RP servers only from then on. I am a hardcore PvP'er who occasionally RP's. I just assumed that like WoW TOR would have cross server PvP ques.... sadly this is not the case, nor will it ever be the case. So, I will just stick it out here, and help the servers PvP as best I can, glad to see some old faces returning after, albeit a brief absence.

Good luck to you, and see you on the battle-front!

Something that really continues to surprise me, we on TEH have a lot of people who come and go. However we do tend to have a rather solid (albeit on the small side) of core players. To all of you in the short list of 'core' players (OP included, your awesome. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.)
