Anosa
How would you all feel about the idea of cantina buffs?? maybe hanging out in a cantina for 8-10 minutes would give you +5% to all stats and +2% to accuracy and dodge?? Players hanging out in cantinas from different planets would give a planet based buff??? example.... staying in the cantina on Hoth would give a +2% chance to chill targets when you attack them?? (would lower the targets alacrity by 4% for a few seconds?) All buffs would last 2 Hours and death in warzones would NOT remove it. This would make players have to be a little more interactive with the world. Edited July 8, 2013 by Anosa
Moonraker
I like this idea, I have been hoping that something would happen to get the planets hopping

Boccanon
Hehe, I truly like when old SWG players are trying to reclaim that game via SWTOR. Yes, that was a feature in SWG (Star Wars Galaxies). Sigh.. the good ol' days. A whole class was devoted to entertain and buff players for tips in cantinas. They knew how to make social games back then.. Ohh.. got carried away here. I support that idea!

I support that idea! I mean i know swtor will never be it, but SWG had great ideas in it... and i think having cantina buffs would be great.. not adding a dancing profession but just allowing NPCs to do it or something. JPryde
To be honest, I wouldn't want the cantina buffs of SWG to return. In SWG it was practically impossible to fight without being cantina buffed and drugged up by a medic. You are suggesting 5%, which really is a whole lot... and thus would make such a buff mandatory. But you cannot force players to interact. Cantinas would turn into lag invested AFK-stand around parties, where players are waiting for some timer to run out while being AFK or complaining on the forums or TS about how silly this time sink is. SWG at least had the social aspect of actually having to interact with the person buffing you... your suggestion however just creates a time sink that is more annoying than anything else. As a side effect, it would create a hassle for players, who are already using cantinas for roleplay aspects. (this coming from a Dancer/Musician/ID from SWG)
blindxsecrets
I miss my Ent from SWG. I'd hang out in the cantina all day just buffing people and being social. Loved that class....and I'd love to see something similar like this come to TOR. Aren't many of the devs on TOR from SWG? Could have sworn I heard that somewhere.... But having us just wander into a cantina and sit there for a buff seems.....frustrating. I'd hate to be forced to do that everytime I logged in, especially since I don't always have that long to play and having to waste time getting a buff in order to go out seems like an extra step that isn't necessary. A buffing class.....however....hehe. If cantina's did boost stats, I'd prefer crafting boosts....might encourage more people to actually craft that way. THEN AGAIN....don't we sorta already do that for Rest Areas? If it worked in conjunction with that, I wouldn't mind...just log out in a cantina, log back in and poof instant buff-a-roonie. Vanisher
I think the dancer/musician class that have buffs in SWG would be a cool addition to the game. It would also add more of a role play feel to the game and also give role players something for once. I am not a role player myself I just like pvp and pve but I do have to admit in SWG having the dancers give player buffs did help to add a more social aspect of to the game. It is an MMO so it's supposed to be social that's what separated an MMO from a platform game. Also having dancers and musicians in game could be cool would help in game player events I know guilds throw pvp tournaments so how cool would it be on the side lines having a bad and dancers and during the fight you actually hear the music the band is playing rather than have them play those holo instruments with no music. Lol I think I lost the point of this with that paragraph but if they introduced an entertainer class they don't have to do a whole story for them just make them a supporting class. It would add an element and make the cantinas even the one on the fleet a more used environment the cantania on the fleet is empty all the time. Anosa
The social aspect of this game is what i am saddened most by. It feels like everyone is just doing their own thing and no one else associates with anyone.

Ulrah
Funny, when I go to the "cantina" in real life, I leave with a debuff
NOTACTICS
I would not agree with having a catina buff that will improve your killing, but say a social buff that will give a small increase to the social points or light/dark points you earn in group talks with NPC for 60 Minutes would be a decent idea.
