MotorCityMan
I can't spot a stealth assassin/shadow or a concealment op/dirty fighter even with 30 levels of stealth detection on my level 55 sniper in pvp. Occasionally i get a quick glimpse of a sin/shadow... never an op/scoundral. What use is an ability called "Spotter" with 30 levels of stealth detection if I can't detect anything or see anything? Even if I get a glimpse of a sin/shadow, what good is that? So I have a split second before I get ambushed? Bioware, if you are going to give a class an ability, how bout it's functional and actually works and is worth something?
Altheran
It works fine. When you have 30 stacks, you can spot an Assassin from pretty far. And yes, the purpose is only to let you have a quick countermeasure against an upcoming ambush. The strong point of stealther is that they surprise you, start fighting you while you can't respong because of CC, and let you fight back only when the fight starts to be unfair (100% HP vs 40% HP for exemple). If you don't let them have this advantage, they're nothing more than a random player. Quickly use Rifle Shots (or Leg Shot) to reveal them and Entrench if they were heading towards you (sometimes you'll see some of them heading to one of your mate). In the case they were coming for you, if you do both, they'll have a really hard time fighting you because they rely a lot on the "surprise effect" and CC. I think I'm not exaggerating if I say that when it happens, they're more or less concealed, and they become one of most easy preys you can dream of. MotorCityMan
It works fine. When you have 30 stacks, you can spot an Assassin from pretty far. Thanks for the advice but in my opinion it does not "work fine". I get a glimpse of sin/shadow sometimes but am unable to target them and so get ambushed. Ops/scoundrels have an ability where they can add 15 lvls of stealth so it negates the spotter ability. So you can't see them at all. So basically we have this so called ability called spotter which is supposed to function so that a sniper can't be ambushed or at least rarely ambushed and it doesn't work. It works so poorly that it is only very rarely can I actually spot a sin/shadow long enough to target them and fire. The rest of the time I get ambushed. So Bioware can take the ability and redo it so that it actually is functional.

I used to be able to sit in cover in say, huttball, on the middle ramp and once the stack reached 30, I was able to passively reveal stealth classes as far away as the side ramps. Now, I rarely see stealth classes until they've been attacking me for a second or two. I don't know if this is an extension of the stealth bug that allows players to be out of stealth, but still only have their weapons visable, or not. I don't know if they've implemented a change that causes this, it would almost seem like latency, but I've changed nothing, and there's no "catch up" with abilities as everything seems to happen when they should. cover stack 30 see nothing get attacked see weapons, no character, no name plate for 3-5 seconds. this is the norm now.
