Okrir
While sitting here I hade a few thoughts... Multiple fireworks are going off in the distance. This made me think... What if you were in a war torn country and you hear the big bangs? What would the greatest generation think? How should we respect them all? Just thinking out loud, flame away... OddballEasyEight
Well i can only tell you that when i went to school i had a few friends that were refugees from the war in yugoslavia and they hated new years eve because of the fireworks. Too many bad memories. As for "the greatest generation" i have no idea... since i dont consider there to be one of those...

PLynkes
If you are in a war-torn country and hear big bangs, they are almost certainly not Fourth of July fireworks. What's your point? And why is this thread called "Respect thy enemy" since nothing in your post pertains to that? In my country we let off fireworks each year to celebrate the failure of a Catholic plot to take over the country, and delight in the horrible retribution meted out to the conspirators afterwards by burning them in effigy. I think letting go of the past might be a good thing, actually. Edited July 5, 2013 by PLynkes
AlexDougherty
Which one was the greatest generation? The one around the time records began, every day a new record was broken, the record for how many blackberries you can fit into your mouth for example. Yes it was the generation that began records that was the greatest. Edited July 5, 2013 by AlexDougherty

Fireworks sound pathetic compared to most anything in a warzone. 2. Greatest generation? I thought they were all dead by now? 3. By being respecful, it's not brain surgery.
