Slicing > Scavenging > Underworld Trading?

Recommended Posts

I've been reading that these crew skills are the best way to make credits. How exactly do I make the credits using them? I'm a BH if that makes any difference. Am I suppoded to just sell the things I collect? Or do i make some things then sell them? I just don't understand these crew skills. I've never used 2 of the 3 skills I have up there. Thx

Slicing is good as it besides missions you can slice lockboxes and Security terminals in the enviroment for direct credits and its surprising How much this can build up your credit haul, places like Nar Saddah have loads of lock boxes. It a good steady income extra income stream.

Scavenging can also be collected from scrap heaps in the enviroment aswell as missions so you tend to level that one quick aswell buiding up a collection of metals and compounds which all crafters need to make stuff so everyone always needs metals and compounds. Some metals and compounds can fetch a fair bit of money on the GTN, Laminoid as level 1 early on seems to make the most moneyas a level 1 compound as it seems to not not drop much on Scavenging missions and Pickups from scrap heaps.

Underworld training can get you rare metals and compounds aswell and also a chance to get Schemtics which can always fetch good GTN prices.

As for my server:

Slicing and Scavenging are amazing, whilst leveling I'd just pick up every node I find and sell results on the GTN (in slicings case just open the lockbox for money) but I tend to take Bioanalysis as 3rd just whilst leveling. The lowlevel materials are worth tons, it's simply amazing and monster-enemies you defeat (silver+) turn into nodes for you to scavenge, extra drops! Same for Scavenging and droids.

Any non-gathering skills are best leveled up after level 41 since you can send 4 companions out and it goes quite quick (though sometimes if you're leveling just for the sake of leveling it you run less desireable missions, a bit of a downside.) and all my 55s are currently sitting with 450 in Biochem, 1 gathering skill (Bioanalysis/Scavenging/Archaeology) and Slicing. Scavenging being the most profitable since 2.1, but that's server dependant and can change any patch. Crafting sometimes is more profitable than selling raw materials but not always and I save a lot of money using reuseable Stims, Adrenals and Medpacs. Something to keep in mind.

If you want to get into crafting I'd always make sure I have the Gathering and Mission crewskill assigned for the Crafting crewskill since it's way cheaper to get all the materials yourself. Maxing a Missioncrewskill (or slicing) with a Gathering crewskill gives the optimal useage of companions by sending out 1 on a Rich mission for the crewskill (which you generally want a critical on for profit) and 4 others on the Gathering crewskill, optimal being the Abundant and Rich missions (atm.)

Whilst leveling and most characters came around 1-2 mil when they hit level 50 (before 2.0 ^^) after getting the basic expenses such as all skills and speeder rank 3. Which is a nice starting buck to spend on things like augmenting gear.
