Alacrity and Combat

I recently switched from Focus on my Sent to Combat, just for a change of pace. First of all, I'm finding it to be exceptional DPS-wise, and i enjoy it a lot more than I ever enjoyed Focus. The thing I especially like about Combat is how incredibly fast you put out attacks; with Focus, I felt more consistent and smooth running through my normal rotation, but Combat is more hectic and rapid in every way. I noticed early on how much I was spamming Zen in this spec for the extra Alacrity, so I decided to go completely overboard and add a bunch of Alacrity mods to my equipment. I am currently sitting at around 10% Alacrity rating, not counting Zen. I know a lot of players prefer to stack Accuracy and Crit over Alacrity, but coming from Focus, I figured Combat would play best as a "quantity over quality" spec, which is why I loaded up on Alacrity in the first place.

Is this approach the most efficient way to play Combat, both in PvP and PvE? How much does your DPS suffer when prioritizing Alacrity over other stats? Is there a "recommended" Alacrity rating? Also, how high can you theoretically stack Alacrity when it comes to equipment mods; I don't see many of them available, on the GTN or from vendors.

There are exactly 2 (3) stats you should consider for your gear:

1) POWER (!!!)

2) SURGE RATING

(ok, some accuracy for the 100%)

forget everything else, it will drop your dps enormously.

I think i've read a topic in here where someone said, that if you max out alacrity you'll get only up to 10% attack speed. This isnt worth the massive loss of your attack power.

And you wont need any more crit than the ammount you get from strength. Your Blade Storm does the most part of your damage and should crit anyway, if you do it right.

Try to use the search. There are some guys in here that tested it, if you want the facts/math.

Edit: So, if you get any items or sets with alacrity/crit in it: For christs sake rip them mods/enhancements out. And burn them all! Burn them all!

I wonder if the previous tests still hold true now that master strike is effected by alcracity. Cause they stealth changed it and now it ticks massive fast while in zen. try it.

Cause now while in zen, I can get a master strike, blade storm and dispatch to all fit into a precision slash window. Its crazy!!!!

I tried it. Switched out 4x Adept Enhancement 31 vs 4x Alacrity/Power Enhancement and it was a great dps loss.
