lironBD
So I'm playing the game pretty much for few months here and there since it was released and until this day (with breaks of course) and I think there is a very major problem with the core design of the game. First as a game it's lots of fun and all but game like anything else needs a purpose.. a point.. a "why I do this" reason. This game is first time eve story driven mmo... even from first screen where we choose republic or empire side we get into part of the story as overall there are 2 major "Faction" stories + 8 Class stories which you can change by your choice so there is a great variety here. Along the leveling process of chapters 1 to 3 you get to a planet > get class specific mission + planet faction line + side quests. Each mission has a dialog, story, and recognition of who your character is and in return you can react to the world in response and such the story is created interactively. for me once that part is over and I'm also talking about the unique missions like operations one time intros and flashpoints intros etc... you get to a point where you can do dailies\weeklys and that's it. no story, no sense of achievement or something. and for me the problem is that once you've played for month or more even with single character and got attached to it and in the process gotten use to certain way of gameplay the sudden change from theme linear story driven to theme-park "pick a stand for a mini game" is kinda boring... extremely. I have something like 10 characters on single server. I finished 7 out of the 8 classes and faction\fp\ops\pvp wise I did all quests in the game + world events in the time I've played the game. For me at least the whole point of mmo game is to create an online character which I can stick with and improve while playing with other people in an interesting environment but it's same story each time... a new update with some interesting story content and unique ONE TIME missions comes out.. I finish it in a week and that's it back to do nothing but grinding all over. Leveling alts is also extremely tedious as even with skipping most boring content u get to grind AGAIN planet missions or do space\FP\pvp each day in order to level up enough to stay with your class mission level. Also worst part of alts is that while you got your main character geared and all suddenly to think about grinding the game AGAIN to gear a different character? it's just unbearable. so TL`DR: Game let you experience unique story content for 90% of the game content then at the end game instead of expanding the story content in some unique way which involves players interactively you get a grind for tokens activities with no point whatsoever. so: a. Game should have been like that since level 1 and not getting us used to the story content. b. Game should get a story content update once per month as major update so the method we got used to will continue.
Soluss
Just like any other MMO... continuation of your character comes in expansions once a year or once every two years or whatever.
MSchuyler
Let's put it this way: Playing the game is a whole lot easier than making the game. It's a whole lot faster. There is no way, ever, that the game's content can keep ahead of your play--ESPECIALLY if you play fast. Let me use an example from a sci-fi story I read once. The protagonist had played all the "quests" in New York City. He decided to move to Los Angeles where he thought there might be new quests he hadn't played yet. He actually expected "them" to BUILD Los Angeles by the time he got there. He was disappointed. People who play quickly are always going to be disappointed because no game in the world (excepting life itself, a possible MMORPG) can keep up with them. The only realistic thing you can do is take a break, find another game, monitor this one, and come back when something major happens. That's a reasonable thing for you to do. What is unreasonable is an expectation that the game can ever keep up with you.
MeisterBabylon
Except Makeb wasn't exactly personal story content, but galactic story content. I do hope we get rotating extensions to story. Maybe Bounty Hunters get their personal story extended in the upcoming BH featured event, and then rotate through the 8 classes in their own events. It relieves the team from having to do ALL the class stories at once, allows us to play our flavors of the month. Keeps things interesting, you know? lironBD
makeb was not just makeb it was dreadseed\shroud + S&V as well which is kinda great. Also I hear that 2.3 adds new daily area + 2 FP for level 55 and new companion overall I like that idea cause that something new. but my point was .. let's make an example... I played a bit of eve online. on eve the tutorials is mostly same expiriance you get in the game .. you fly boring long jumps from one system to anoter, your ships explodes, you lose everything and need to start over. but on SWTOR 90% is linear story driven content and then there is a display case of missions to chose from on daialy basis without story what so ever.
