Nefarus Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 I just read the patch notes for 2.0, and saw no mention of any new flashpoint content in the new expansion. Please tell me I'm wrong! How can you have a new expansion without a SINGLE new instance?!?! All we have to look forward to are the re-tuned hardmodes?!?!?! We've all leveled multiple toons, playing these older flashpoints over and over again, so they re-tune them so we can get sick of them even more??? It sounds like the only new content will be planetary quests and a new ops! This isn't an expansion, it's just a simple patch! I have defended this game from day one with many of its decisions, but this is ridiculous! Please tell me I'm wrong here!
bbare Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 (edited) Hold on. What they didn't say is that the new operation has 7 bosses. That is pretty much an operation and a new flashpoint by TOR's standards. There is also a new instanced world boss making 8 bosses added in the expansion. I think that is a pretty decent amount of content. Edited April 8, 2013 by bbare

bibobpipop Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 New Hard Mode Flashpoints! Hard Mode is now available for the following Flashpoints at level 55: Athiss Cademimu Hammer Station Mandalorian Raiders These are your "new" flashpoints.
Kilora Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Seriously, $10 expansion. Did you expect it to be equivalent to what other MMOs put out for $60? We've had this information for a whie. We KNEW there wouldn't be any new FPs. We're also getting what is basically a raid and a half (larger than any previous raid). So. 5 more levels, entirely new planet. New ops. New Dailies. HM versions of 4 FPs. All for $10. I would've loved a massive expansion. Unfortunately, because of the problems at launch, and the necessity of bringing in F2P/CM -- they didn't have time to create a massive expansion. Be happy we're getting any new content, and that it is insanely cheap to get the content. If you don't like it? You're welcome to leave and play ANY of the other games that exist. No one is forcing you to stay -- and us "Fanbois" don't understand why you play a game you clearly hate so much. . .
Swissbob Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 fanbois are adorable. if you call that decent amount of content for a so called expansion, your standards are pretty low. Oh snap! You called him a "Fanboi"!! You said his standards are low! You raise a very persuasive arguement.

Yeah, don't you feel like a sucker for spending $50-$60 on this so-called expansion now! Oh, wait.
Ansalem Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 it is getting frustrating and annoying that bioware keeps rehashing old content with a new label on it. Its a pattern that WOW uses and it is what drove me away from playing that game. Please Bioware stop recycling old content and give us actual new content. A new mode is not new content its old content with glitter and I friggin hate glitter
Kilikaa Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 fanbois are adorable. if you call that decent amount of content for a so called expansion, your standards are pretty low. Mini expansion. MINI! That is the key word here, MINI. This was never a full sized expansion. The amount of content being added is pretty good for a MINI expansion. The "fanbois" defend it because it is a MINI, not full size, expansion. Your remarks are flawed.

A new mode is not new content its old content with glitter and I friggin hate glitter Welcome to MMOs in general. Unfortunately, it takes a development team more time to create new stuff than it does for people to finish it. I'd love for them to double the size of their dev team -- but we'd all be paying $40/mo subs to make sure they didn't go bankrupt. While I'd do that in a heartbeat -- the "majority" of the playerbase wouldn't. :-(
Darth_Moonshadow Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 What is it with people wanting to spend their play time in instances? Is questing really such a bother?

The amount of content being added is pretty good for a MINI expansion. The "fanbois" defend it because it is a MINI, not full size, expansion. Your remarks are flawed. The problem is it makes all the content we have now meaningless because the gear won't be worth getting anymore. It shrinks the game down to 1 operation and 5 flash points. The leveling is supposed to take 9-10 hours and I doubt gearing up for this operation will take long so people will most likely be bored and quit within a month like they did at TOR launch. That's the issue most people have I think, I personally would have preferred to get a 60$ expansion with NEW flashpoints along with ALL the old ones boosted up to level 55. The least they could have done was boost all the current hard mode flash points to 55.
NoFishing Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 The problem is it makes all the content we have now meaningless because the gear won't be worth getting anymore. It shrinks the game down to 1 operation and 5 flash points. It is actually 2 operations, because TfB is being re-tuned to 55 and to drop 55 gear. And don't forget that S&V has *7* boss fights, making it almost twice the size of EC when it came out. The things we are losing are any reason to ever set foot inside EV, KP, or EC again. But having 2 operations at any one time be the "current content" is pretty much where we have been since launch.

Players have been running those flashpoints and Operations since launch, I think it's time to let them be "useless" for a while. Plus up until 2.0 HM/NiM EC and HM TFB were the only ones that really had any gear "worth getting" since they dropped Campaign and Dread Guard gear. I wouldn't really consider the gear they drop worthless, as it should still be better than anything up to the 55 flashpoints. You won't get better stuff just from leveling to 55. Also, TFB will be a level 55 operation now. Edited April 8, 2013 by MillionsKNives
Nefarus Posted April 8, 2013 Author Posted April 8, 2013 I enjoy questing, but you may as well be playing a console adventure game with a pvp feature. This is supposed to be a mmo. For 5 levels there will be almost NO multiplayer gaming features, except for pvp and maybe new planetary heroics. So we get a brand new operation and a few recycled instances at level 55 sure, but what about the 5 levels we will slowly grind out ONLY doing quests??? If our leveling goes fairly quick, we still are only getting recycled content. How fun will progression be for us when we're getting geared up in old instances? Or are we simply going to be able to walk into the new raid in our adaptive and dreadmaster gear? What about the casual players that aren't able to enjoy ops runs for whatever their particular reason is? How fun will it be running the same content they ran while leveling up to 50? What about the players that don't enjoy pvp or the grind of leveling? Again...we may as well be playing a console game until level 55.

I've leveled several characters and I've run Hammer Station on each one of them.....one time each. I've run Athiss and Mandalorian Raiders once on a few of them...but not all of my characters. I think I've only run Cademimu one time. The leveling flashpoints are skippable and there's no reason anyone would have to run them over and over on a character. They are meant to be run once. Certainly players can grind them over and over to level if they choose, but that's not how the game is set up and that sounds like an extremely boring way to level. I'm looking forward to running HM versions of them.

What about all the people who don't care about the same things that you care about? How about them? Ever stop thinking about yourself for a moment to realize that not everybody thinks the sameway you do? Also since launch when was the last time they added single player content? There's been a few FPs and Ops added since then. Don't you think it's about time for a little bit of a focus on expanding on of the areas they haven't really touched since launch? Oh no wait of course you don't, because you only care about what you specifically want and to hell with everybody else.

Ansalem Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 I'm getting tired of BW recycling the same old content and trying to pass it off as new by saying its now nightmare mode. Nightmare modes have been nothing but underwhelming. I would rather they just put out new content rather than recycle. 2 modes is all we need nightmare and story. I'm sorry but its ludicirious that they can pass off a new mode as new content when all it is is the same old thing with a little glitter added. How exactly is that new content for the casuals that only do story modes? new content means something that is ya know...NEW!

Until it stops being false, I suppose? There are a lot of new things A new Operation with 7 bosses A whole new planet - with a new story for each faction, new quests, new heroics and new rewards. Macrobinocular and Seeker Droid missions New skills 5 levels New crafting schematics New tiers of PVP and PVE gear The Achievement System etc. Honestly, if you ever expect to find an MMO that will NOT have daily quests, that will NOT recycle old content by adding new modes and which will have new things on a weekly basis that you will find entertaining enough to do, you are in for a huge disappointment.
