Spaff
First post on this forums baby, lol. Here is what I did- Get task manager up. Go to the processes tab and scroll down to the L area. Go in your directory (Swtor folder) and delete the patch folder and patcher_-1to64. This will buy you some time. Run Swtor. Find it on the process list and click on it once (DO NOT END IT YET) As soon as you see it close after updating, hit end process and enter Worked for me, give it a go. Shimot
This is the only method that worked for me, quoted from Bioware. Aegislaman
I can't believe this worked. I have been trying to circumvent this problem for 4 hours now. Once the patch is done updating, do you have any more problems with the launcher?

Annex
Cant believe this worked. I found my laptop's wifi kill shortcut and killed it just as the lanuched started (after UAC prompt), then reenabled wifi and it worked! Great!
Uhsoo
After having to do a reinstall (due to hard drive failure) and having solved this problem on login, I find that I am faced with a blank account, all characters and items received since beta are gone. Not a happy bunny right now. (Waiting on a reply from Customer Services.

Dosli
Am I the only person for whom none of the "fixes" work? I've tried everything I've seen on the forums but nothing works... I am getting really annoyed at the lack of response from Bioware... it is now a full three days I have been unable to log in...
wookieehug
As has happened before there is an issue for some of us when the launcher is being patched. The problem looks like the launcher tries to restart but it does so before the original process is completely shut down so we get the error message. There is a solution if you have the PC knowledge. Start the Launcher. As soon as it starts to close the Launcher disconnect from the internet. Reconnect after about 5 seconds. The launcher should then restart fine and download the patch. You could disconnect by either disabling/enabling your network adaptor or by physically unplugging your cable. And yes it does seem to be exactly the same problem that we had a few patches ago. I don't know how but after a few attempts at this it worked and seems to be updating. I am however still not happy about having to resort to this method with fingers crossed. PhilosophicSith
This worked for me. Brand new user/customer. Very first install, it does that. The timing is a little tricky. You want to disable your adapter when the first box is closing. You have to get it while it's closing for update but before it tries to reopen itself. Seems like the program tries to open itself while already open as part of that update. Gave me TWO messages of that in a row. What this seems to do is delay the reopen of the program until the internet is back on. It's a good thing I'm so stubborn or I'd have just buggered off to do something else instead. Why they spend money advertising for a game that new users can't even connect to because of an unfixed launcher bug is beyond me. You would think they would have fixed this by now.
