I love playing dirty fighting in both PVP and PVE content. They are underrated for both, and from most of the posts I've read on them, they are very misunderstood.

Without going into a long discussion, I'll post a few comments...

PVE: They excel at multiple mobs rather than one on one. They also excel in mechanics where the raid must switch from the boss to adds, as they continue to pull 6-700 dps from 20 secs worth of dots on the main boss while everyone is running around killing adds. They by far do the worst one on dummy parses, but that doesn't tell the whole story of DF pve. They excel at softening up many mobs while the more bursty dps finish them off, as dot crits regen energy.

PVP: The class is not a burst class, and strategies must be changed accordingly. They excel at defending capped locations with other traditional bursty dps, where you can dot up everyone. This gives other dps an easier time finishing. DF should stay at mid-range dotting and then close in on an enemy to finish them off with a series of abilities, including blaster whip and wounding shots. Currently with both dots, wounding shots does over 5k, and can sometimes be used twice in a row if 2x UH is up. Therefore, two wounding shots is half the health of most pvp'ers (10k+) and takes only the time of 2 gcd. They excel at survivability, as they can have defense screen on every 15secs, use dodge, and dissappearing act as a target drop. Where they are not good is in cc'n for capping. If you dot potential cap stoppers, they can't be cc'd. However, that strat is mostly for stealths by themselves. DF should be on the side with the most friendlies as a support class. In this case, it is better to dot everyone and help finish off cap stoppers quickly. Most of my caps in voidstar is from killing the mobs quickly and having them wait for the door to open. In other wzs, the strat is to finish off all the others quickly, unless you are solo stealth capping, which is not DF expertise.

In the end, DF is not played like other classes. As with all classes, we need to know their strength and weaknesses to use them effectively. Sadly, DF's strengths and weaknesses is misunderstood by most of the SWTOR community. With 2.0, all of the things the AC excels at is boosted, and its major weakness, single target sustained dps, is now on par with other ACs. I can't wait for 2.0.

I prefer scrapper, but DF can be a lotta fun as well. I'm looking forward to 2.0 as well.
