I have only recently levelled up to 50, I was so excited to start doing all of the new stuff , raids weekly missions etc but when I tried the pvp it honestly put me off the game for a week I played pvp from level 17 and when I reached 50 I discovered that my character is pathetic, I cant get war zone commendations because I cant even get a simple kill! Its awful and it should be fixed, I'm running around and I get 11k damage to me, I do max 3k how the hell do people get to their stage?

I don't think so I mean I got a thing about advanced gear and I even have 2 pieces of war-gear armour, I thought it would be a game changer but it did not do much I still get my *** handed to me every single game.

Go to the combat section of the fleet. Click on the terminals and get your free recruit gear, it will be worse than your war hero pieces, but better than anything you have from sub 50.

Are you by any chance playing commando/merc?

Also, you should have been able to buy more wh gear if you've PvP'ed from level 17. I have 2000 rated comms on my level 40 already (trade-in trick)

Oh you mean the tionese gear, yeah iv been using it and it still sucks, I don't know what the best gear is or where to get it because I'm beginning to believe war gear isn't.

  1. guild up
  2. get in voice chat
  3. ???
  4. PROFIT!

seriously, guilds and voice chat fix these issues much quicker.

you: "hey, I'm getting crushed in WZ, can you look at my gear"?

guild mate: "DOH, you need to get your full set of recruit! It is free!"

you: "how do I get it"?

mate: "..."

mate: "lets queue together. I'll throw a guard (or some heals) on you and maybe I can give you some WZ tips"

you: "PROFIT!"

tionese is the starter PvE gear. Recruit is the starter PvP gear. If you are not wearing at least recruit gear you are doing it wrong.

Every piece of level 50 PvP gear has a PvP stat called expertise. This stat is vital for decent PvP WZ results.

Thanksman, I have bought several items, I still have no idea where to get all of the best equipment but its a start

You are playing one of the very weakest classes in pvp in pve gear. I would like you to remember this in the event you should last a bit longer to improve your equipment. If you are serious and this is not a troll-job, so incredible your story is, there may come a point when you appreciate the.... let's say silliness of your current predicament. Edited by Aelaias

See in full Recruit gear I am still having this issue on my newly minted 50 Pyro PT. I got my full PVP set bought another piece with the PVP comms I had and I still get wrecked. My damage appears to be halved and I am getting slammed for 4k to 7k hits on a regular basis even with my 25% dmg reduction shield on. I used to be able to pull 7 to 11 medals a round in 10-49 pvp, now I am just happy to get more then 3. And before you say "l2play" this character was leveled specifically in pvp so I could the learn the class... I don't know what I am doing wrong.

With an outlook like this, you'll do just fine. :)

Just equip the starter gear where you haven't already earned War Hero items, and go from there, swapping out the starter gear when you acquire something better. Give the starter gear to Aric Jorgen when you finally upgrade out of it - chances are it's better than what he has already. Selling it only gets you a single credit per item, so why not?

Recruit gear is a starter set. You are now as the level 10-15 players you were wrecking in lowbies while you were in your 40+ level. Yes, you have all your skills, but the other players are better geared and have much more experience. And you have to accept your class is a glass cannon. Even if you get full EWH gear, you will receive 7k hits and die fast when focused for a little. It is not as much as "l2play" for your class, which you should know by now. Its more "l2play" issue about your place in the Warzone food chain.

A 2-3 War Hero pieces don't make that much of a difference. You will start feeling a change after getting at least a weapon and 4 armor pieces for the Set bonus. So, with all that above, you probably have to change your attitude and tactics in the Warzones until you get better gear. First off - medals will be your friend. More medals - more commendations. However, in Recruit gear, you are not the lowbie bracket killing machine you used to be. You cannot just go to a level 12 anymore and burst him before he can find his basic attack button to retaliate. Lets see:

Use Taunts - every CD and all the time. Ease the pressure from your teammates and grab 2-3 easy Protection medals every single game. Taunting a smasher right before he unloads his LOLskill can net you 2 medals alone.

Accept guard duty - yes its boring and your class is not the perfect one to do it, but often you are the weakest link in the team as Recruit. Let the better geared player help crush the opposition while you stay ready to call incomings in chat and delay an attacker as long as you could. Defense medals are among the easiest to get.

Do not be a solo hero - yes, you could kill a solo defender easy in lowbies, but now in recruit, you will get laughed at. Stick to your team, peel off attackers from your healer and pay attention to which target your team focuses. Learn to recognize and mark healers. No medals for that last one, but it may help you win.

...and pass the karking ball...;)

I spec'd my scoundrel for heals until I finish getting my WH gear from him. As a healer you can be a decent contribution regardless of your gear level. As a DPS yeah, you won't feel particularly deadly until about 1100 expertise or so, give or take.

The game is out for a year. Did you really expect to stand a chance with a rookie-char against veterans who perfected their gear over the last 12 months?

Is this your first mmo?
