- Players are very curious about the decision to make Cathar the next playable race, as opposed to seemingly more popular choices such as Ithorians, Wookies, or even Droids. How did the development team arrive at the decision to choose Cathar, and what other kinds of races can we expect in the future?

 

- What do you mean, a lot of folks love the Cathar! You’ve got a great point though – the popularity of different races varies wildly from player to player. My personal favorite is Mon Calamari! They are decidedly not very Imperial though. We think Cathar is a great start and equitable for both factions. Future races are definitely a possibility and community popularity will be a huge deciding factor if and when we do pick them.

 

YES, PLEASE!!! Mon Calamari FTW!!!!

I have zero faith in the ability of EA to do anything outside of the cartel market as has been demonstrated over and over again. Holding all other species hostage depending on how much the Cathar make is a pathetic move. Their hope is that everyone, even those that don't want it, buy it for fear of not getting any other species.

 

I'm running through the die hard 2....I mean Trooper story right now. As soon as I'm done with that, I'm out of here. I have no interest in playing the smuggler and completed all the others.

 

i don't know if you have trouble reading what you actually write, but all this is whining. if you're gonna unsub, then just do it. stop acting like people are going to care. no one does.

I do often type just because I like seeing my own voice on the forums. I was merely pointing out that you were whining. and I showed you the direct whining quote. There really wasn't anything to say after that, but if you would like me to discuss the psychological implications of your need to get attention by passive aggressive threats that no one is concerned about, i would be more than happy to oblige.

its another duck and dive Q&A, nothing that can be said to be coming any time soon or at all. The super secret space project is just a worm on a hook imo, I so want to be wrong but if it was anything even remotely likely to happen in my lifetime there would be more to say. Mini games sound great, WHEN? no new warzone any time, great so pvp has the new balance and that's it for this year at least.

 

Honestly they have more or less run out of the partly finished content and projects from the original game development that got cut to allow them to launch, all that is happening now is maintenance and trying to finish things off that can be finished but some things they have lost the developers for and will take months to pick up for someone else.

 

I am looking for ward to 2.0 and makeb and I can see that being a good few months of subscription time, but come the fall I really expect player numbers to be way way down and people to be looking for more concrete news or other games.

Except they haven't demonstrated not being able to do that. Quite the opposite actually, if you look at it factually instead of through rage-tinted glasses. Let me make a list of non cartel items since F2P launch vs Cartel items (ive gotten good at this list as ive posted it a number of times)

 

Cartel items:

1 Shipment of Cartel Packs completed (about a 10-20 unique items in a lot of recolors)

1 new Shipment of Cartel Packs startes (about the same size of unique gear)

1 Life Day 'event'

1 dozen item sets, all adaptive recolors of already existing sets.

1 new Mount

1 new Reputation vendor selling stuff from the list above and adaptive skins of RotHC armors.

 

non Cartel items:

1 new Companion (HK 51)

1 new fixed daily Zone (Section X)

1 new Warzone (Ancient Hypergate)

1 new level of Operations (Denova Nightmare Mode)

1 new mount (as part of Denova Nightmare Mode)

1 new level of PVP gear (elite war hero)

1 new event (Relics of the Gree)

2 new systems (Reputation and Ready Check)

A number of bug fixes, not merely limited by bugs concerning the Cartel Market or Cartel Market items.

 

Oh yes.. and all that non Cartel stuff while also developing a digital expansion that will pre-launch in 2 weeks.

 

Just because Cartel stuff is on the top of the Patch Notes and takes up a lot of lines, doesn't make it the actual focus of development of the game. Now, bring me your fair and balanced proof of the game having "no ability to do anything outside of the cartel market."

Yeah, it was a nice interview with some new info. But no really fixed promises except that class stories are, apparently, not the way forward for now. That is sad news, but hearing the ideas they have and what they chose to focus on (like improving PVP experience before adding a new warzone) seems to me that at least the direction is better and more focused than before.

 

What actually comes out of all of this? we will see..

Pazaak won't use Cartel Coins, it will pull the game directly into gambling laws, which is territory no sane company wants to get involved in. The current cartel packs skirt the edge of the law, but it won't be long before western governments follow our asian cousins in making these lottery packs applicable to gambling laws as well.

 

As for the rest... doubt any of it is this year, so nothing to get excited about.

That would require a very specific, non-generalized and time-sensitive answer. ;) Of course, you could always take comfort in the "we'd like to do that, sometime, but it's pretty hard" answer.

 

Even the Jedi robes and the intention to put them into cartel market? They were talking about it in november :l

I've been waiting 9 months for Cathar, who should have been here a long time ago and by what they are hinting I still have 3 more months of waiting for them.

So don't hold your breath until late 2014.

That's a great idea! Plain robes have been my personal favourite look since I first saw The Phantom Menace! Getting these robes into the game is a definite high priority for us, but it's still on our "wall of crazy." Watch for more information in the near future! ;)

Hahahahhahahha. Screw this... I am done with it. I am gonna RP some special Jedi who does not give a trash about tradition and is a constant rule-breaker and puts emphasis on his individuality. -_-

 

I'll love wearing Jolee Bindo robes next month. =]

I'm heart broken and a bit disappointed. I would like more companion and class stories, with the companions I have, especially the romantic companions...and more romance options for those whose choices suck, like female trooper and jedi consular.

none of those are confirmed... he says they are always looking for things to do for events (never says says pazzak and swoop racing is in the game), and he sayd that new companions are hard to do so they will probably be like hk-51

Small mini-games, such as Pazaak, Swoop Racing, etc, would be very popular with the playerbase; many have even suggested a Hutt-run Casino. Thoughts on this?

 

Yes! One thing you have seen with our events is that they are all very unique. Introducing mini-games is definitely on the table among all the neat ideas we are swirling around for future events.
