LVL 55 armor design is...what? Really?

Am I the only one who thinks that the design of these new sets is even...wierder than the one in previous updates ? I mean, for example, the War Hero set for Sorcerers used to be this wierd demonic half-shrubbery, half-Hellraiser design, but instead of dialing back the conceptual artist's daily intake of hallucinogenic drugs, they seem to have added some peyote in there too :p.

The Sorcerer now looks like Porcupine-head's court jester! And look at the warrior! Look, cause he can't look back through that Triangular bucket with 'no' eye slots! And the Underworld BH armor set made me have Walking Dead flashbacks, like Update 2.0 will have an optional zombie mode! Only the Knight's Underworld set looks remotely sensible in that its just kinda bland.

Too each his own, maybe I'm a solitary voice in the wilderness who dislikes this design...but man, I ain't touching these new sets with any length of pole except to strip them of mods. What do you think of the new armor design? Does it fly for you?

You might want to look into the expanded universe, and not only to the movies, maybe read some comics n stuff, you'll be surprised how much 'star wars' these outfits actually are.

Really? Hmm, interesting, might have to have a look-see at the expanded universe artwork. I kinda always guessed that the EU was just borrowing the look and feel of the classic trilogy, just like throught history, Pubs/Rebels always seem to have some poor buggers wearing these bulky impractical visor helmets that don't cover your face at all :p.

Regardless, the armor's still really bug me...

The only one that was off for me was the 'walking dead' one like you phrased it, but in another topic about the new sets someone mentioned this guy from comics that had a similar helm/head, can't find the link atm, but it was on Wookiepedia.

Clementine will remember this :p.

What is even stranger then is, if they were going for the EU look, why didn't they re-introduce the classic Sith armor pieces, like this:

Maybe in future sets, can't have all the nice stuff come now, game would be over.

To be honest they added some really nice sets, in 'my' opinion that is.

But everyone has different taste, I understand that.

oh, and about those zombies in star wars, take a look at this :p

Am I the only one who thinks that second Agent coat would look good in a different colour scheme (darker navy with navy instead of sand?) and a different helmet?

It looks like a Navy coat. It's a real coat that doesn't have a silly popped collar. I want one.

It even has buttons.

Star War Z :D. heh, that was actually some pretty interesting quasi-science mumbo-jumbo :p. And they managed to fit it into canon lore, nice!

Oh and I might just buy that armor's head, pop it on and whenever somebody adresses me in chat answer with "Brains!"

True, the color ruins it a bit :/! I might just buy it, sans the head for my IA, even though he's a commited beliver in the awesome power of the popped collar :D:

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Clean house with the design team and and hire fresh, bright minds.

I my guild and I are very happy that the set bonuses are removable with mods because none of us will be using these jokes for Star Wars armors. It's a pity this game will never get a reasonable amount of armor that represents the franchise it's based on.

which one doesn't represent the franchise? oh wait, you are referring to franchise as only those 6 movies are 'star wars'

And tbh, most of the armor sets viewed in the movies are already in the game, can't blame them to make variants of those, and using things from expanded universe to offer a bigger choice of customization.

Wonder if you've really went of dulfy or just trying to defend something that makes people feel sick looking at.

I went on Dulfy, and I took the time to look at the other threads about it to see people post pictures of the armors in the existing lore that they were based on. I asked you a question but you can't seem to give me a good example, maybe because you know you are wrong?

It's all subjective really. I think they all look bloody awful bar the Agent and perhaps the Smuggler.

Each to their own I guess...

exactly, some like, some don't, but saying they don't fit in the star wars franchise without doing some research is another thing, a few weeks back there was a topic that had reference pictures of almost all sets, what they were based on, alot were from comics, some even from movies/animated series. there are even armors in the comics that would suit a fantasy game better, though thats open for discussion as star wars is science-fantasy :)

but as you said, the qq is more a matter of taste.

I really like a lot of these new pieces, sets not so much, but Ive been here since early access, leveled 16 toons, and have never used a "set" of anything to this day.

I just pick and choose pieces that look good together, and that's what I really like about this game, being able get a look I like and raid in it, as opposed to you will all look like x(with colour variations) because that is the top end gear.

And with the new system of set bonuses on armorings, it will be even better.

I really LIKE every single one of them. It's just the headpieces I generally hate. The Smuggler and Consular headpieces are okay though, as is one of the Trooper and one of the Agent designs. And since I rarely show a helmet anyway, I really couldn't care less how those things look.

Hide Headslot. We already have the option, it mostly works, most people use it already, so why don't you?

Or... just grab another helmet maybe? You CAN transfer the armorings WITH their setbonus to whatever item you like now.

Indeed, look at all the posts crying about the removal of the tio/col/rak stuff, that stuff copped a canning for months on this forum as being the most fugly armour to ever grace an mmo.

In 2.0 Set Bonus is bound to Armor Mod not Set Piece. The true test of new armor set design will be how many players are walking round in the `designed lvl 55' set after 2.0 launches.

If as has been consistently reflected in the forums, most players are unhappy with the flavour of new armor sets, it will be clear to Devs - Dont wear the armor!

Personally Id rather them release the sets from the original trailer `class' videos and the Sith Set from `Betrayed' as well as fix the mask/hood and hood toggle elements before producing more Armor Sets that dont fit the flavour of the universe or the players desires.

I notice the previous elements of Armor Modification over and above colour matching have been suspiciously absent from the 2.0 trailers, despite teasers by devs in interviews earlier in the year.
