Correct me if I'm wrong but what I've gathered from my readings on the forums is most people complain about the changes to Assassins saying they are now gimp. On the other hand Marauder players seem to be rejoicing. I'm leveling both right now and have a tough decision to make. I mainly PvP but I do enjoy the occasional flashpoint here and there. Rafaman Posted March 4, 2013 Share Posted March 4, 2013 (edited) Sure... now, I don't PvP much so, I can't say that I'm intimately aware of the details there. But... I can tell you at least my first impressions in general in playing the classes on the PTS.. So first... I don't think Shadows/ Assassins are gimped. I run both as tanks and generally speaking they both work well. Mitigation overall has been improved but it seems the damage taken is a bit more spike prone. Quite simply this has everything to do with Kinectic Ward. In short, the default Elite gear has very little Defense (avoidance) as an attrib so you must rely more on Kinectic Ward. And Kinectic Ward, while a mitigation ability that increases your Shield significantly, is limited to 8 charges and has a cool down. Easy fix in general there. When you get there, the mix of Defense/Shield/Absorption has to be tweaked through mod swapping. Not a big problem. For Maras/Sents the thing that makes me smile most is an 8% increase to Master Strike as part of the set bonus that is part of Elite gear. Wow... Maras/Sents do great dps and this increase just adds to that. Throw in the dual lightsaber throw as a long range AOE attack and everything is golden. Thus so far... all is well in my world. Keep in mind I just started working on the PTS this week and have only run a few FPs and the new Ops one time. I'll get a better feel for things as I run a bit more. In 2.0 the assassin build is being nerfed as in the 2 8 sec cc is being done away with and rage spec is getting "Smash" nerfed by 15 percent. Are they both good builds, yes. OP, prolly not. People who are complaining on the forums about both specs, do not know what is really happenning to each spec, but there both fine. The current OP build is the 0/21/25 Pyro Powertech build, which needs to get nerfed (2 auto crit rail shots in 6s). Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I'm not looking for OP but rather, is Assassin going to be a viable DPS pick or just tank mode node guard? Are marauders being nerfed or buffed but I'm getting conflicting reports.
