Switching between advanced classes

Your own fault for spamming the spacebar and not realizing that the choice was permanent. I knew it was permanent before even doing that quest, just from reading about the classes on dozens of websites while waiting for launch.

Bioware gave plenty of advanced notice on this.

I was never told that it would be permanent and I read everything/listen to everything very carefully.

No, I'm not going to play through the first 10 levels of another bounty hunter because BioWare wasn't smart enough to add the ability to change Adv. Classes.

peace out then homie.

you made the decision to pick a CLASS you didn't like.

does wow allow you to change from a warrior to a priest? NO

you can only respec your TALENTS. you can do the same there BRAH.

It's not as simple as that. you can play a base class for a few leves and decide you don't like it and instantly reroll as something else. You won't have to go through 10 levels of game play as an "Apprentice" in order to be able to reroll, the same 10 levels you just went through.

True, but Bioware is trying to break new ground by introducing a mechanic of further specializing into a sub-class. Since a sub-class is still a class, it makes sense to make it permanent. Also, the fact that choices have consequences lends quite a bit to the gameplay, imho.

Even if the quest giver didn't specify it was permanent, there was still plenty of info available to make that known. I knew about it even before I got a beta invite...

I'd rather them leave the system the way it is than see them introduce AC swapping and turn this into a flavor of the month club, like WoW.

lol way to not read bud. you seriously cant spend a couple hours re leveling on a game I assume you were planning on spending a whole lot more hours on?

lol way to not read bud. you seriously cant spend 5 minutes reading the last 4 pages where a link has been posted that shows he is right .

Hashy ... All the classes I have played have told you it was permanent, but looking at the video posted it seems that in the BH you are not. I for one assumed it was since all the other classed I played did.

They should make it more clear that is for sure.

I just watched a clip provided by Brakner that proves you right. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PUtZ4Q0p_w 07:50-12:30, there is no mention of the choice being premanent.

Sorry for doubting you, I was just sure that it was mentioned, played the BH myself, but I must just have missed that it wasn't mentioned since I was aware of the choice permanent. My mistake. Again, I'm sorry.

Submit a bug report with Bioware using the youtube link that has been posted in this thread. It is a bug that they missed the "this is a permanent choice" box for Bounty Hunter.

I am suprised this hasn't come up untill now.

It doesn't lend much other than frustration when the mantra "choices have consequences" leads to people having to replay the same 10 levels, with the same story, abilities and play style that they just spent hours going through. to have to do that again unwillingly isn't going to create a lot of joy, especially since in this case it turns out that it wasn't stated that the choice would be permanent. Not everyone is going to know that going in, far from it.

As for the flavour of the month/week problem, this wouldn't be an issue if it was only a one time, level limited choice to switch AC. What would be so wrong with that?

There is a difference between spending hours willingly and having to do so unwillingly.

Lol, you sure you're in a good position to question their intelligence?

This reminds me of a lady that I talked to back in the day when I worked at support. She had filled out an online form (for service) and was MAD because nobody told her that the info on her HDD might get removed when she sent her comp in. I guided her through the pages she had filled out, pointed out where she had accepted just that...and even pointed out the bold red text that said just that...oh, and showed here where she had clicked a box to acknowledge that she had indeed accepted those terms.

You got no warning, eh? Lol, right. I believe you! (strange though, I have selected an advanced class on three chars and I got several warnings each time, and never made a mistake)

Pretty simple to destroy Hash's claims...

I just happen to have a level 10 Sith Inquisitor sitting and waiting to choose her AC.

Here are the screen shots, fresh off the press.

And if I don't like the Sorcere AC, I'll simply roll another SI, and choose the other AC. These things are simple. Not rocket science.

Read the text. They guy verbally tells you that the change is permanent.

When the dialogue options come up, the subtitles are automatically displayed, and it says, in text, that the choice is permanent.

The choice is yours, but know this-once made it cannot be unmade. Your destiny will be decided

Done and dusted...

It's when he sends you to your AC trainer. He tells you the choice is permanent.

Want to me to quickly roll a character of your choice, level it to level 10 and Fraps it for you? They clearly say in the cut scene, the choice is permanent. I know this for my BH and SW as well.

I have 3 chars above level 10 now... Rerolling is not an issue for me. All of them, the trainer states the same thing. The choice is permanent.

This is most likely something that BW will have to do something about. A lot of people are going to make mistakes or find that they picked the wrong AC a few levels into it.

For some reason a lot of people seem dead set against even a one time, level limited (15-20) AC change to amend such mistakes. Spouting "choices should matter", which I find applies poorly to this sort of thing.

BS. This is one of the major problems in todays world. How about people own up to their mistakes and stop blaming the world for their failures.

The OP picked the wrong AC. It is no ones fault but the OPs. The OP should be the one to fix the problem the OP created.

I through out my first upgrade from the Space Combat missions yesterday becuase I was not paying attention to what I was doing. I *****ed for a sec and moved on. I did not come to the boards and state that Bioware should return my upgrade to me because there should of been more warning.

I have a BH Powertech currently level 16. A 15 SW Juggernaut as well. And now the SI Sorc.

They all say the same thing.

In the video the guy unfortunately comments over most of the dialogue.

EDIT: For those of you saying I should remake my char, I'd rather not spend the time to do it all over again, as short as that time may be. Believe it or not but some of us have IRL obligations and cannot spend hours and hours rerolling.

Around 12:30 is where you pick your AV for BH and I didn't see one warning that it would be permanent. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PUtZ4Q0p_w

I seriously Lol'd after reading this thread. I read the entire thing, line by line. And then I realized... that apparently you have too many other IRL obligations to reroll the first 10 levels.. most of which can be breezed through now that you know the storyline/quests/tutorials.

I suppose spending 2-3 hours complaining on the forums is too much of an IRL obligation to reroll.... omg rofl.

Seriously?

The third time I'm saying this. I have a BH.

I actually deleted a level 15, and rerolled him. The new one is now level 16.

It's the same for the BH.

Have you not been paying attention?

Should I roll a third BH to prove it now?

The two guys you go to. Fatty and Slim, tell you that your choice is permanent.
